Spotlight Showcase Returns To The Historic State Theatre In June

Hennepin Theatre Trust announced today Spotlight Showcase, Minnesota high school theater's biggest night, is returning to the historic State Theatre (805 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis) for the first time since 2019 on Monday, June 13 and Tuesday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m.

As their love of music and each other grow, their lives and communities intersect, causing encounters with prejudices that challenge them to reconsider their relationships, priorities, and dreams. Featuring an original score with music by David Bryan, founding member of Bon Jovi, this show will have you dancing in your seat.

This past year, thousands of young women competed to become Miss America and on December 16th, 2021, as the organization celebrated its 100 the Anniversary, Emma Broyles from Anchorage, Alaska became the first Miss Alaska to earn the coveted Miss America crown and was awarded a record $100,000 in scholarship assistance. A gifted vocalist, for the talent portion of the Miss America competition, Broyles sang, 'Let Me Be Your Star' from the NBC television show, 'Smash.'

Ordway Center For The Performing Arts Launches GreenRoom, Musical Theater Training Fellowship By And For BIPOC Artists

The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts today launched GreenRoom, an intensive musical theater training fellowship created by and for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) artists. The six-week program will be led by seven BIPOC artists and run July 7 through Aug. 18. Applications for the 10 open fellowship positions are available now. GreenRoom is made possible by support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Follow the journey of a young child with the question; 'What DO you do with an idea?' First, they ignore it, but when it won't go away, they nurture it and watch it grow. One day the answer becomes abundantly clear. What Do You Do With An Idea? runs from April 8 - May 8, 2022. The show is appropriate for all ages and is based on the book by Kobi Yamada with illustrations by Mae Besom. The musical features a script by Cristina Pippa, Music & Lyrics by Sharon Kenny, and is Directed by Melanie Salmon-Peterson.
