There was buzz last summer among members of Dover's Temple Israel following one of their nights out at Hackmatack Playhouse in Berwick to see "The Producers." Not only did they fill the house with laughter and applause, but it was a very successful fund raiser for the Temple. Once again, Hackmatack is offering non-profit organizations the opportunity to raise money this summer during any of the recently announced shows.
Other Organizations that benefited from special nights at Hackmatack in recent summers have included Eliot Rotary Club, The Child Abuse Prevention Council of York County and Zonta International of York County. Zonta is made up of executives and professionals who work together to advance the status of women through service and advocacy.
"We need to hear from non-profits right now in order for them to realize their best return," according to Michael Guptill of Hackmatack Playhouse. He said that these fundraising opportunities include sharing the proceeds from ticket sales and, in addition to seeing the show, can include use of their tent, grounds, and other facilities for a reception, barbeque, or social. Guptill reports, "There is no obligation as far as specific numbers of tickets that are required to be sold and non-profits can raise as much as $3,000 in one night. It's a win/win situation." Organizations are encouraged to inquire now.
The 38th season at Hackmatack Playhouse (Route 9, Berwick, Maine) this summer includes Cinderella, Leading Ladies, Carousel and Hello, Dolly.
Tickets are now on sale. In addition to shows to benefit non-profits throughout the region, Hackmatack Playhouse continues a tradition of affordable ticket prices with student, senior, and group discounts. Tickets are available on-line at www.Hackmatack.org or by phone, 207-698-1807.
More information about fundraising opportunities is available by contacting Guptill at that number or by email, hackplayhouse@aol.com.
