Carlsen Center Presents New Digital Artists-in-Residence Opus 76 Quartet

Emily Behrmann, General Manager for Carlsen Center Presents today announced the first-ever Digital Artists-in-Residence partnership with Opus 76 Quartet for the 2020-2021 season. Known for their entertaining and energetic interpretations of the classics, this group of renowned musicians based in Kansas City have been called “Kansas City's gem of a quartet” by The Kansas City Star.

Theater League Announces Grants For Local Theatre Professionals

In order to provide assistance to local theater artists who have lost work due to the pandemic, Theater League has designated funds from its endowment to distribute grants of up to $500 to actors, stage managers, designers and technicians in need. The newly formed Theatre Community Fund of Kansas City (TCF) will assist the League in identifying local theater artists in need and helping distribute these grants.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre Executive Director Angela Gieras today announced the partnership of KCRep, and Kansas City PBS (formerly KCPT) to produce a virtual adaptation of the beloved holiday classic, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. An abbreviated version will air on channel 19.1 on Thurs., Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. CST.
Starlight To Host Third Life-Saving Blood Drive

As the national blood shortage rages on, Starlight and several neighboring Swope Park organizations are stepping in to help. The local blood supply has not been stable since March, when the COVID-19 pandemic became widespread in the United States. In response, Swope Park organizations are once again partnering with Community Blood Center (CBC) for one final, life-saving blood drive of the year to be held in the Applause Club at Starlight Theatre.

Union Station Unveils New Permanent Exhibit RPO: THE ROMANCE OF MAIL AND RAIL

This morning at 10 a.m., Union Station and GEHA officials cut the ribbon to open a fascinating new exhibit and tribute to the American postal pioneers of the Railway Mail Service (RMS) and Railway Post Office (RPO). This new addition to Union Station's permanent exhibition space, “Union Station Stories,” is being presented and made possible by Government Employees Health Association (GEHA), whose founding in 1937 was by a small group of local RPO employees.

The feature is available through November 29 and when ordered through the box office the purchaser has 48 hours to view the production. The Associate Artistic Director for The Unicorn, Ian R. Crawford, directs this production as The Unicorn continues to invest resources in an attempt to keep artists working through the pandemic.
