(12/20/2012) - The Brooke Jackman Foundation and actors from the Screen Actors Guild Foundation BookPALS program just visited PS362 in the Far Rockaways. The SAG Foundation actors, including film star Samatha Mathis from the movies Little Women, Broken Arrow and How to Make an American Quilt, performed a dramatic reading of favorite children's books while wearing hilarious holiday hats, then distributed Brooke Packs -- backpacks full of books and school supplies -- to the 200 children in attendance. Other actors from the SAG Foundation's BookPALs children's literacy program included Broadway legend Kimilee Bryant from Phantom of the Opera, Dana Marie Ingraham from Spiderman: Turn off the Dark, Dionne Figgins from Motown: The Musical, and others. PS362, where the performance occurred, has just reopened after damage from Sandy.

About 1,000 fans attended the IndieScreen theater with a sold out opening night for Radio Free Albemuth and five other previously announced locations to view 10 features and 50 shorts which carry on the concepts and style of the festival's legendary namesake. In the United States, they are one of the most successful Irish touring acts ever, second only to U2.

(12/04/2012) - The Rockettes and Madame Tussauds New York kicked off the holidays in style, with the unveiling of the new Rockettes costume on their famed wax figure and a brand new exhibit surrounding the Rockettes at the world famous Times Square attraction. In celebration of the 85th anniversary of the Rockettes performing in New York City, Madame Tussauds New York has revamped their Rockettes exhibit to highlight 85 years of Rockettes history in New York including vintage photos and a behind-the-scenes video compilation. The Rockettes wax figure will also be dressed in a Rockettes costume called "Happy Feet," featuring an usherette style maroon and gold jacket embroidered with an "R" that was designed in 1990 for the legendary dance company. (10/16/2012) - On Sunday October 14, 2012, Broadway Workshop hosted a one day musical theatre master class with Tony Award winner Christian Borle (Peter and the Starcatcher, NBC's SMASH). 18 lucky Broadway Workshop students between the ages of 13-18 participated in this 4 hour class. In addition to working with Mr. Borle on song interpretation and audition technique, students also took part in a dance master class with season 1 SMASH associate choreographer, Valerie Salgado. The sold out workshop was held at Ripley Grier Studios and is part of Broadway Workshop's fall master class series.
