One Drop is a clash of dominion, supremacy, tenderness, worship and courage. An 11 person multi-cultural cast depicts the life and times of Charley Cade, the love child of a black man who works with his hands and the white daughter of a high society land owner. Though it may be the story of one family’s history, the story contains elements of our universal human nature. The story will not be complete without instrumentation of the live musicians which provide the soundtrack to Charlie’s world. Andrea J. Fulton, (Composer & Lyricist), Illona S. Dixon, (Musical Director and Vocalist) and Janice Dixon, (Composer & Original Arranger (It’s You I Want to Hold) provide a musical soundscape that moves the story along and heightens the tale of the drama.
Andrea J. Fulton’s own family tree was the inspiration for One Drop which premiered at Theater for the New City and garnered strong reviews. "One Drop has a positive message, energized by a talented cast of actors and musicians and inspires good thoughts in a world full of negativity." - Joel Benjamin, www.theaterscene.net "Beautiful songs with sophisticated lyrics" - Ekaterina Lalo, www.reviewfix.com "Andrea Fulton will become one of our Country's finest playwrights. (She is) my pick for the 21st century." - Crystal Field, Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Theater for the New City.
