Register Today for Kids On Stage Summer Program At Playhouse On Park
This summer, introduce your budding young actor to theater through creative play and interactive fun at Playhouse on Park! Registration for Kids On Stage is now open to students in kindergarten through 5th grade. The class runs in two sessions: session one starts June 24 through June 29, and session two starts July 9 through July 13.
Session One: Kids on Stage: Superheros! is theatrical experience that focuses on storytelling through acting and creative play. Young actors will shine on stage at the Playhouse and explore popular Superhero stories together as an ensemble. Come act out Batman, Supergirl, Spiderman, and all your favorites! Students will create their own Superhero Alter Ego characters, play Special Power Freeze Tag, and move and sing to songs like Zero to Hero from Hercules and The Incredits from The Incredibles.
Session Two is entitled: Under the Sea! Students will explore popular stories of the ocean together as an ensemble. Come explore the deep in a Snorkling Fantasy Walk and act out sharks, fish, mermaids, and more in a special Animal Runway Walk. Songs may include Under the Sea and Part of Your World from Little Mermaid and Beyond the Sea from Finding Nemo.
Both Superheroes! and Under the Sea! focus on building basic acting skills and also adds in movement and music, along with craft projects to encourage self expression. Students will perform scenes in a culminating open class. Though the emphasis of the class will be on developing skills and not on a final performance, family and friends are invited to the last class to see students present scenes.
