Merrimack Repertory Theatre Summer Registration Now Open For Teens

Registration is now open for the MRT Young Company summer program, a professional theatre training program for high school students, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for three weeks, July 15 to August 2, in downtown Lowell. Nationally recognized creative producer, director, and performer Will Rogers will return to lead the program.

The Huntington Theatre Company's 2019 Breaking Ground festival of new plays will be held April 12 - 14, 2019 at the Huntington's home for new work, the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA. The festival is a vital part of the Huntington's new play development efforts and highlights the work of locally-based Huntington Playwriting Fellows and national writers in partnership with the Huntington. Over the last decade, Breaking Ground plays have gone on to appear at the Huntington as well as theatres in Boston, across the country, and internationally.

Norwell High School sophomore Rose Hansen was named Massachusetts's 2019 Poetry Out Loud (POL) Champion Sunday at Boston's Old South Meeting House. She bested 24 other finalists to earn the top honor. Second place went to Grace Hwang, a senior from International School of Boston, and placing third was Phaedra Plank, a junior from Nantucket High School.

Pilgrim Festival Chorus (PFC), the South Shore's principal non-profit community chorus, launches its two-decade anniversary celebration this spring featuring a choral masterwork in two Mozart Requiem concerts on Saturday, April 27, 7:30 pm at St. Bonaventure Parish, 803 State Road, Rte. 3A, Plymouth, and on Sunday, April 28, 4 pm at Scituate Center for the Performing Arts, 606 Chief Cushing Highway, Rte. 3A, Scituate. 25 Students To Compete This Sunday In The Massachusetts State Finals Of POETRY OUT LOUD

Twenty-five students from across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts advanced from this weekend's five regional semi-final contests of the 14th annual Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest to compete in the State Finals on Sunday, March 10 at the Old South Meeting House (310 Washington Street, Boston). The event begins at 9:30am and is free and open to the public. The Huntington Theatre Company's Education Department has facilitated the Massachusetts chapter of this national contest in partnership with the Mass Cultural Council since its inception 14 years ago.

The newly established Fellowship represents a shared vision between the two organizations to broaden resources that allow artists to thrive and bring new work to stages in Massachusetts, New York, and beyond.
