It's Fringe time ... strap yourself in for a wild ride as we present 11 fantastically varied shows as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, Wed 22 September to Sun 10 October.

September highlights:
Melbourne Cabaret Festival favourite Mic Conway returns to Melbourne with Robbie Long, playing unusual and idiosyncratic tunes that will make your jaw drop, toes tap and sides split. ‘Perfectly pitched ... In one tune he was able to pack in a lifetime of Cabaret' - Roy & H.G. Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 September.

Cookie Baker delivers faux-folk pop cabaret for the contemplative wino in 'Tealight Parade', accompanied by piano, guitar, ukulele, melodica and a sugar-velvet voice to knock your socks off ... or have you bawling into your absinthe. Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 September.

Cocktail of the month
In honour of the ‘Best Cabaret' Award winner at this year's Adelaide Fringe Festival (and performing with us in Melbourne Fringe) we present ‘The Jane Austen Argument', a bittersweet mix of Cointreau, bitters, citrus and gin, with a tarty dash something unexpected.

Looking ahead
We're celebrating our 11th birthday on Sunday 3 October in typical eccentric style ... by hosting a doppelganger party.

There are various definitions of the term ‘doppelganger' but for the purposes of this celebration we're using the facebook-inspired one, whereby guests are invited to dress up as a celebrity they look like. Prizes are on offer and entry is free.

After 11 years of unlikely staying power as an independent, non-publicly funded venue in an ever-fluid Melbourne arts scene, 11 years of discovering and nurturing new talent, of hosting always fun and sometimes naughty parties and shaking ‘n stirring 100,000+ cocktails ... it's time to party. The Butterfly Club has also been the launching pad for the annual Short+Sweet Cabaret festival (now in its third year) and the just-concluded, wildly successful Melbourne Cabaret Festival.

Other scheduled performances include the Melbourne Cabaret Masterclass with Dr. Kim Edwards, SING OUT LOUISE, Mel Hughes in THE POETRY HOUR, THE PRICE OF GENIUS, LILA GRAY, and more.
