Helping talented high school seniors reach for the stars, Las Casas Foundation is pleased to announce that the Las Casas Performing Arts Scholarship Competition has been selected to participate in the National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA), creating the opportunity for two teens to win trips to New York City to participate in NHSMTA, a national celebration of outstanding student achievement recognizing individual artistry in vocal, dance and acting performance. It will be a night of firsts for performing arts in Austin, Texas! The First Annual Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards (GAHSMTA) will be held at the Long Center, tonight, April 17 at 7:30pm. Not only will it be the first large scale project fully produced in-house by Austin's iconic performing arts venue on Lady Bird Lake, but also it will be the first time the Long Center has partnered with ZACH Theatre and The University of Texas at Austin College of Fine Arts. Sebastian La Cause, the multi-faceted actor, known for his work on Broadway and most recently in the Netflix original Orange Is The New Black, Homeland and the critically acclaimed indie-feature Keep The Lights On was the big winner at this year's Indie Series Awards, which was held in Los Angeles for the first time. La Cause's drama Hustling took home the night's top honor, Best Drama Series. Recently completing its third and final season, Hustling can be found on Youtube at, www.HustlingTheWebSeries.com and was this year's most nominated series with nine nods - including writing, soundtrack and Lead Actor for La Cause.
