BWW speaks to comedian Larry Dean about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show Farcissist.

Tell us a bit about your new show Farcissist.

It's a show about my break up with my ex and how I (like a lot of other people) have pretended to be someone else for people to like me. So it's kind of me trying to be myself, or someone else the audience would like.

What was the inspiration behind the show?

The deadline for the fringe programme.

What have you been up to since last year's festival?

I've done some stuff for The BBC & Comedy Central, along with shows at the Melbourne and Montreal Comedy festivals....so it's been a pretty fun full on year. Looking forward to being back in Edinburgh though!

After a Fosters nomination last year, are you feeling the pressure?

I am, not because of the Fosters nomination though. I feel the same pressure every comic does before the fringe. Nothing worse than going up to Edinburgh with a show you aren't happy with. I feel guilty if I make an audience bored so I don't want that to ever happen.

How do you maintain your focus during the fringe?

I don't drink during the fringe so it definitely helps me gig a lot. I'm constantly distracted when I'm gigging, but if I'm not busy I will definitely want to drink!
