Second Section of New Rockaway Boardwalk Opens for July Fourth Weekend
(7/2/2015) - NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP, announces that the second section of new construction on the Rockaway Beach boardwalk will open to the public this Friday, July 3, in time for the holiday weekend. Phase 2 of the construction project spans from Beach 97 Street to Beach 107 Street. Combined with the first section of opened boardwalk (Beach 86 Street to Beach 96 Street) New Yorkers and visitors will now be able to enjoy 1 continuous mile of newly constructed boardwalk starting this weekend.
Moving Image Presents 20-Film Retrospective THE ESSENTIAL JOHN FORD, Now thru 8/2
(7/3/2015) - Starting fittingly on July Fourth weekend, Museum of the Moving Image will present The Essential John Ford, a tribute to the consummate American filmmaker. Ford made his reputation on westerns, but worked in many genres, creating films of depth, beauty, and ambiguity. From today, July 3 through August 2, the Museum will present 20 movies directed by Ford-all on film, with some restored archival prints-including his masterpieces Young Mr. Lincoln, My Darling Clementine, The Searchers, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.

David P. Thiele Is the New Managing Director of David H. Koch Theater
(7/1/2015) - New York City Ballet announced today that David P. Thiele has been appointed Managing Director of the David H. Koch Theater, and he will begin his position on July 27, 2015. Thiele, who has spent nearly 30 years working in the performing arts world, has been the Vice President of Facilities and Operations at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia since 2009.
