Bobbie Horowitz's New Series at the Met Room to Combat 'Ageism'; Will Honor Career-Changers, Late-Bloomers and Good Samaritans, Beginning 4/11
(3/31/2015) - One of New York cabaret's most beloved personalities, songwriter and performer Bobbie Horowitz is producing a new variety show series at the Metropolitan Room (34 West 22nd Street) dedicated to the proposition that age truly is just a number. Each show in the series, It's Just a Number!, will feature some of cabaret's best performers and 'Honor a person who after age 50 either began a new career, resumed a career, is attempting to attain knowledge in a new field, or established a new organization to help people.' The series (six shows between April and October to start) launches on April 11 at 1 pm and will honor long-time social justice advocate Alice Fisher, creator of 'The Radical Age Movement,' a grassroots nationwide effort that challenges traditional notions of aging and introduces new ideas for building co-creative and interdependent communities.
NY Philharmonic Launches Worldwide Radio Broadcasts for April-June 2015
(4/1/2015) - Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam; the Royal Concertgebouw; and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, David Robertson, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director - performed by violinist Leila Josefowicz, for whom it is written and dedicated. The concerts also include two early 20th-century Russian works, Stravinsky's Petrushka (original 1911 version) and Lyadov's The Enchanted Lake.

'In Drury Lane: Music of the English Theater' featuring baroque incidental stage music written during the Restoration Period in England. At a time when most composers were employed in courts and churches, the late 17th century gave way to the new trend of public concerts where composers could write music for the amusement and pleasure of a paying audience. The orchestra will perform music by Purcell, Locke, Handel, Avison, and Boyce and there will be a Meet & Greet Tea reception immediately following the concert.
