Rosie O'Donnell Heading Back to Co-Host THE VIEW? Laila Ali, Ross Mathews Also Possible

As BWW reported earlier today, Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy will be leaving their posts as co-hosts of the ABC talk show, THE VIEW.

In a statement issued to Deadline, Shephard, 47, confirmed news of her exit, commenting: "After careful consideration, it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to myView family and my fans for supporting me on this journey."

McCarthy, who only joined the show in 2013, quickly took to Twitter to share with her fans: "If Sherri goes ... I go too. #sisters" She later added: "My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year ... We will be back."

Now, network sources tell the TMZ web site that both Shephard and McCarthy had been fired from the show. According to the report, a meeting took place at ABC late Thursday afternoon when it was announced that Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy would not be asked to return. Sources also reveal that longtime View executive producer Bill Geddie will be departing.

In addition, "several sources" are reporting that there is a chance Rosie O'Donnell, who famously exited the show following an on-air feud with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, will be coming back! TMZ was also told that producers are "very interested" in Laila Ali, E! host Ross Mathews and Jesse Palmer.

Stay tuned for more details!

O'Donnell recently guest-starred on ABC Family's hit series, The Fosters as Rita Henricks, a tough yet compassionate woman who works in the foster care system and is a mentor to a member of the Foster family. O'Donnell's first appearance on January 20 helped The Fosters to garner a series high in total viewers. The actress has appeared on Broadway in 'Grease,' 'Seussical' and 'Fiddler on the Roof.'
