The Greatest Star! Incredible Vintage Footage Of Barbra Streisand In Broadway FUNNY GIRL!
It's a beautiful day for fans of Barbra Streisand! An astonishingly extensive and utterly fascinating new video clip collection showcasing the international icon onstage in the original Broadway production of FUNNY GIRL is now available to view, just in time for its 50th anniversary later this month.
Featuring vintage footage of Times Square and the Winter Garden Theatre along with copious coverage of the actual stage show itself, this is undoubtedly manna from musical theatre heaven for FUNNY GIRL fans and Streisand fanatics.
Among the highlights, Streisand can be seen wowing the crowd in an array of unforgettable numbers and dialogue moments from the original Garson Kanin-directed, Jerome Robbins-choreographed production, including "I'm The Greatest Star", "Don't Rain On My Parade", "People", "Sadie, Sadie" and much more, as well as the elaborate original production itself, which is also amply evident to see.
Additionally, co-star Sydney Chaplin - the original Nicky Arnstein, of course - is showcased, as well.
Plus, the legendary "Hello, gorgeous," opening immediately following the conclusion of the endlessly exciting overture, too - and much, much more!
Of note, the original Broadway production of FUNNY GIRL opened on March 26, 1964 in a production directed by Garson Kanin. The score was penned by Jule Styne and Bob Merrill, with a book by Isobel Lennart.
