MirrorLink Shortlisted for 2013 GSMA Global Mobile Awards
The Car Connectivity Consortium(CCC), an organization driving global technologies for phone-centric car connectivity solutions, today announced that MirrorLink has been shortlisted for a 2013 Global Mobile Award in the category of Best Mobile Product or Service for Automotive.
"The competition this year was of an exceptionally high quality, breaking all previous records," said Michael O'Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA. "Our judging panel has assessed well over 600 entries and nominations for the 37 awards, the largest ever number of honors to be presented at the Global Mobile Awards. It is a tremendous achievement to have been shortlisted and we look forward to recognizing the winners at Mobile World Congress."
The Best Mobile Product or Service for Automotive category focuses on mobile connectivity in the rapidly converging mobile and automotive space, including innovation in telematics and infotainment and the deployment of connected cars and their associated services. MirrorLink is a technology standard for controlling a nearby smartphone from a car's steering wheel or via dashboard buttons and screens - allowing drivers to be connected and drive responsibly at the same time.
"The CCC is incredibly honored to receive this distinction from the GSMA," said Mika Rytkonen, the CCC's chairman and president. "Making the shortlist validates the large degree of collaboration the CCC has inspired among all its member companies. Especially in light of several upcoming milestones, including opening MirrorLink for app developers, 2013 will see MirrorLink in the hands of more consumers and on more roads than ever before."
