Elearning! Magazine October/November Issue Focuses on Learning Gamification with Features by Game On! Learning Gainesville, Florida

Learning gamification has garnered increased interest and visibility with corporate and government organizations recently. Many organizations have implemented key learning initiatives leveraging serious learning games with great success. Some of these success stories are featured in the Elearning! issue as case studies.

Elearning! magazine asked Game On! Learning to help develop the content for the special issue.

“We were very excited and honored to partner with Elearning! magazine on their learning gamification issue. To our knowledge, they are the first Learning & Development periodical to dedicate the majority of an issue to learning gamification and serious games for the corporate and government markets,” said Bryan Austin, Game On! Learning's chief game changer. “Due to the ground-breaking nature of the issue, it was important to work closely with their editorial staff to provide the best possible information about learning gamification to their readers.”

The issue has feature articles on:

  • Key considerations for implementing game based learning initiatives
  • Research-based questions to ask when evaluating serious learning games
  • How organizations are measuring the business impact of learning gamification
  • Case studies of successful serious game implementations in a corporate environment
  • Views on gamification from industry leaders, including noted author Dr. Karl Kapp and Game On! Learning founder Bryan Austin.

A highlight of the issue is the gamified Pop Quiz. “The publisher asked us to create a gamified pop quiz just for this issue, rather than the one they usually have on a page near the back of the issue,” said Austin. “So we developed the content for a game based mobile learning “mission” which serves as this issue's Pop Quiz. The quiz can be accessed via either a QR code in the issue or a link in the eZine version of the magazine. It can then be taken via browser, smartphone or tablet, and readers can compete for high scores to win prizes. Very cool, and a first for any periodical in the L&D industry to my knowledge.”
