10th July 2014 London, UK - The Firtash Foundation has announced a three year patronage of the Saatchi Gallery, one of the world's most renowned contemporary art galleries. The first exhibition, opening on 10th July as part of this new partnership, will be "In our paradise..."celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Ukrainian Poet, Taras Shevchenko. Originally curated by Galina Skliarenko, for the National Academy of Arts in Kiev, the show highlights some of the challenges encountered by Ukraine over the last few decades, including the most recent unrest faced by its people. The exhibition brings together recent photography by Oleksandr Babak and Anatol Stepanenko, Victor Marushchenko, Tiberiy Silvashi and Anna Voitenko. (more...)

Soccer fans in Washington, D.C., have the opportunity to watch a live broadcast of Argentina vs. Germany in the 2014 FIFA World Cup final from Rio de Janeiro at the National Portrait Gallery and Smithsonian American Art Museum. The museums, together with the Embassy of Germany, will host an official viewing party in the museums' enclosed and air-conditioned Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard. The game will be broadcast live on a 21-foot LED video wall. Additional support for the event has been provided by the Embassy of Argentina, the Downtown DC Business Improvement District and D.C. Featuring more than 75 designers, artists, craftspersons, and collectives, New Territories: Laboratories for Design, Craft and Art in Latin America will survey the innovative, cross-disciplinary collaborations and new directions in creative production that have been occurring throughout Latin America since 2000. On view from November 4, 2014 through February 22, 2015, the exhibition focuses on work emanating from a number of key cities that serve as cultural hubs for some of the most pertinent new ideas about art, design, and craft.
