"What Would Cathy Do?" will begin at Teatro Circulo (64 East 4th Street) on Monday April 24 at 8PM as part of The ONE Festival with subsequent performances on April 28 at 6PM and April 29 at noon.

Written and directed by award winning Australian playwright and screenwriter Chris Aronsten, the solo play features film and television actress Skye Wansey in the title role.

Who is "Cathy"? She says she's a method actress who believes in immersing herself in the life of her character before going on set. She says she idolizes Marlon Brando and can even quote his big scene from On The Waterfront. She says she's a former waitress who after years of waiting finally received a call from her agent letting her know she'd been cast as the role of a drug addict named Cathy in a new feature film. But on the surface "Cathy" appears as a middle aged woman dressed in filthy clothing with unwashed hair who's growing progressively more desperate with the passage of time. Is her condition an indication of her commitment to method acting, or has she irretrievably lost herself inside the character she says she will portray?

Playwright and director Chris Aronsten is also a screenwriter who won the Best Screenplay Award for his short film Call Waiting at the British Short Film Festival. His TV credits for Australian television include Going Home, David Tench Tonight and Comedy Inc.- The Late Shift. His full length play Human Resources was shortlisted for Australia's Premier Literary Award and the Philip Parson's Young Playwright's Award in 2006. His play The Lunch Hour was produced at Sydney's Darlinghurst Theatre in 2012. "What Would Cathy Do?", originally part of the three monologue play Malice Toward None, was staged at the Old Fitzroy Theatre in 2012. Chris also spent two years writing a satirical column for the Sydney Morning Herald.

Skye Wansey (Cathy) has played key supporting roles in many Australian films and miniseries including The Silence, Rake, Chopper,Blue Murder and Academy Award winning director Jane Campion's TV series Top of the Lake in the role of "Grishina" alongside Elizabeth Moss and Holly Hunter. Her stage work includes Fences for Urban Stage Projects. Skye will again portray the role of "Cathy" in the upcoming Edinburgh Fringe Festival and at United Solo Fest.

Now in its 12th year The ONE Festival has become an annual showcase for the most exciting, diverse and innovative voices in theatrical solo performance.
