The Baltimore Playwrights Festival is pleased to announce the opening of their final two productions: Feeding the Furies by Andrea Markowitz opening on August 18 at the Audrey Herman Spotlighters Theatre, and(verb) a play on words by Seth Freeman opening August 25 at Stillpointe Theatre.

A single word leads to a commotion then a complex legal battle, disrupting lives and dividing a community. Most of these events actually happened, once upon a time, in an American city. But that was then. And this, as things unfold, is very much now.

(verb) a play on words by Seth Freeman and directed by Ryan Haase is a book-in-hand reading, running August 25 through August 28 and September 8 and 9. All performances are at 8 pm. Stillpointe Theatre is located at 1825 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201. For reservations, email Stillpointeti@gmail.com.

Aspirations run amok when Ruthie and Marty Furie set out to live the 1960s American Dream that glorifies upward mobility, domineering husbands and obedient wives and children. While Ruthie and Marty busily keep up with the Joneses, their marriage is rife with conflict and they can't control their counterculture kids. As we eavesdrop on the Furies' hilarious restaurant conversations, it becomes apparent they all hunger for more than what's on the menu.

Feeding the Furies by Andrea Markowitz and directed by Miriam Bazensky as a book-in-hand reading, will run August 18 through August 21st. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows are at 8 pm, Sunday at 2 pm at The Audrey Herman Spotlighters Theatre, 817 St. Paul Street, Baltimore, MD 21202.
