Damn The Light Promotions (a nightlife based production and promotion company founded by Mike Greco and MaryAnne Piccolo) returns to Duane Park, tonight, February 28th for a one night only tribute to the late "Queen of Disco", Donna Summer. This all-star evening will showcase some of New York City's premiere vocalists from the pop, jazz, R&B and theatre communities.

Donna Summer was one of the very few disco performers who experienced career longevity. "Macarthur Park", "Bad Girls" and "Last Dance" are just a few of the many melodies that have delighted our ears over the past 40 years. Summer was a pioneer in dance and pop music; paving the way for many of the female stars we see publized today. Her songwriting abilities, and choice of talented collaborators resulted in a steady supply of high-quality (and, often, high-concept) material. Few vocalists could match the sultry, unfettered eroticism Summer brought to many of her best recordings, which seemed to embody the spirit of the disco perfectly. The total package made Donna Summer the ultimate disco diva, one of the few whose star power was even bigger than the music.

This month's performers include Broadway's Kathleen Monteleone (Hands On A Hardbody, Legally Blonde), Andromeda Turre (Sleep No More), LaDonna Burns, Leo Gugu, James Jackson, Jake Mendes, Vicky Modica, MaryAnne Piccolo, Carson Ross, Charlotte Small, Danielle Tyler, Kali Wilder and Nicki B.

The evening will be under the musical direction of Mike Greco (keyboards). The band line up will include Darren Denman (keyboards), Joe Young (guitar), Jimmy Caputo (bass), and Joe DiBella (drums).

Doors are at midnight with a $10 cover until 1:30 am. Kitchen service is available until 1:30 am. Duane Park is located at 308 Bowery (between Bleecker and Houston). Space is limited. Reservations are strongly suggested. (212) 732-5555.
