Nominations Open for 2010 BroadwayWorld Toronto Awards

BroadwayWorld, the largest theater site on the web, is announcing that it is launching a new set of theater awards for the Toronto theater community, to be presented in January 2011.

The awards will recognize excellence, as voted by the fans of Toronto theater, and will encompass all of the various forms and sizes of theater in the area, from tours to resident productions, large to small, play, musicals and more. And BroadwayWorld's Toronto-based team will be directly involved in the administration of the awards process.

Awards will be given in 25 categories, and nominations are being solicited now .

Nominations will close on November 30, 2010, and the slate of nominations will be announced in. Online voting by fans will occur December 1 - January 3, 2011, and the winners will be announced in mid-January.

• Best Direction of a Musical
• Best Touring Production
• Best Performance by a Male in a Featured Role/Ensemble (Play)
• Best Performance by a Male in a Feature Role/Ensemble (Musical)
• Best Performance by a Female in a Feature Role/Ensemble (Play)
• Best Performance by a Female in a Featured Role/Ensemble (Musical)
• Best Original Set Design
• Best Original Costume Design
• Best Original Lighting Design
• Best Original Choreography
• Best Original Sound Design
• Best Musical Direction
• Best Independent Theatre Production
• Best Community Theatre Production
• Best Dance Production
• Best Opera Production
• Best Youth Theatre Production
• Theatrical Venue of the Year
