Student Blog: Post-Grad Limbo
by Student Blogger: Aubrey Donovan - May 22, 2023
My first year of college is over and for some reason, nothing seems to have changed. I’m still lost on where my life is going, let alone where the next year is going, and I still feel like I’m just laying in post-high school degree limbo. I’m still trying to find the right school and I’m still trying to accept the change that was solidified when I moved my tassel.

Review: David Mamet's REVENGE OF THE SPACE PANDAS OR BINKY RUDICH AND THE TWO SPEED CLOCK at Off-Central Players
by Drew Eberhard - May 15, 2023
Mamet’s full-length comedy penned to appeal to young audiences premiered in 1978 at the Town Hall Performing Arts Center in Flushing, Queens a borough of New York City. The plot is messy, convoluted, and at some times almost mind-warping. The story follows the adventures of Binky Rudich, his friend Vivian Mooster and an almost human-like sheep Bob as they struggle to get the two-speed clock to work. Soon, Binky’s mother known as Mrs. Rudich calls for Binky to come down for lunch, Binky decides to hit the clock with a hammer one last time hoping to make it work. Suddenly the kids have blasted nearly 50 lightyears away from anything they’ve known to the planet of Crestview.

by Drew Eberhard - May 15, 2023
If its the weird and somewhat twisted that you seek...if you find entertainment in exploring a warped sense of fantasy, then look no further than the genius that is the Ensemble Company of Jobsite Theater. Ever since its production of Shockheaded Peter, Jobsite has harnessed a niche in the realm of the weird, and unexpected. Damn do they do it well.

But twenty is just a number… a larger, older number. A number that marks that a person has had two decades of life experience. You’d think that would actually mean something.

Review: Pam Harbaugh's Delightful, Award-Winning CASSEROLE at the Early Bird Dinner Theatre
by Peter Nason - May 09, 2023
I wish more people in the world were like Claire Wilson. As the central character in Pam Harbaugh's endearing, award-winning CASSEROLE, she exudes such enthusiasm, liveliness, acceptance, strength, quirkiness and, best of all, love. Speaking in a midwestern accent with enough 'doncha knows' and 'You betchas' to make Fargo-fans happy, Claire is a gem of a soul, a godly woman who doesn't condemn or even judge. She celebrates her bizarre recipes with a smile and a hug, and she represents the very best of us. She may not be perfect, but she comes mighty close.

Student Blog: Giving Iowa (A Second) Try… Let's Not Give It A Third
by Student Blogger: Aubrey Donovan - May 01, 2023
The title of this blog embodies how I felt after I exited the theater of my high school’s spring musical. And just to be clear, this feeling was not conjured due to the performance but from the inevitable comparison of the past and the alienation the title ‘alumnus’ brings.
