The Saint of Scandal: The True(ish) Story of La Maupin is a solo theatrical storytelling performance exploring the outrageous real life of 17th-century stage performer, duelist, and cultural rebel Julie d’Aubigny.
Blending historical narrative, wit, and modern perspective, the piece follows La Maupin’s defiance of gender norms, her scandalous love affairs, and her fearless pursuit of artistic freedom in a world determined to control her. From the stages of Paris to the dueling grounds, she carved a life that refused to conform.
Told through direct address and embodied storytelling, this performance blurs the line between history and confession. With humor, intimacy, and a wink to modern audiences, La Maupin’s story becomes both a celebration of defiance and a closer look at how legends — and women — are shaped by the stories told about them.
Bold, funny, and unapologetic, this show invites audiences into a world of swords, spectacle, and rebellion — where identity is performance and survival is an art.

Julie d’Aubigny
Since 2010, Samantha Martí-Parisi has appeared on stages and screens throughout Florida’s Tampa Bay region. Her film and television credits include Netflix’s Pain Hustlers (precision stunt driver), The Florida Project (Cannes Film Festival), Misfits and Monsters, Condo Cops, Magic Mike, We’ll Let You Know, numerous commercials, and on-air appearances for HSN.
Onstage, she has performed in productions including Talking With… and The Diary of Anne Frank at Stageworks, 5300 Bluebird Lane, Plaid Skirts, and Per at LAB Theater Project, and more recently the world-premiere Goddess of the Hunt, Red Hot Patriot, and The Pink Unicorn with StoryKeepers. Her work has been recognized with multiple BroadwayWorld Tampa Bay Awards.
She is the founder of Siren Media Strategies and the creator of Extraordinary Voices and Extraordinary Tales™, performance-driven storytelling series that merge theatre, history, and education.
