The SculptureWalk Sioux Falls Board of Directors has surpassed its fundraising goal to purchase the sculpture “Overcoming” by Ukrainian artist Serge Mozhnevsky. Mozhnevsky will donate the proceeds from the sale of his sculpture to the current humanitarian efforts in his home country.

Music Director Delta David Gier Wins 2022 Ditson Conductor's Award

Delta David Gier, distinguished conductor, is the recipient of the 2022 Ditson Conductor's Award for the advancement of American music, Columbia University has announced. Gier will receive $5,000 and a citation on behalf of Columbia's President Lee C. Bollinger. Previous recipients include Gustav Meier, David Zinman, Alan Gilbert, George Manahan, Leonard Bernstein, Marin Alsop, Oliver Knussen, and John Adams.

Kirby Science Discovery Center Receives Significant Grant From David B. Jones Foundation

The Washington Pavilion is adding new features and exhibits to the Kirby Science Discovery Center thanks to a more than $250,000 grant from the David B. Jones Foundation. The grant will fund two new interactive exhibits inside the museum, fun Radley Rex-themed wall art, additional dinosaur sculptures for outside the facility and more.

Dakota Wesleyan University Theatre mounted a visually exciting production of ROCK OF AGES for Mitchell area theater audiences. Opening moments of the production were colorful and stimulating, with the use of some sophisticated strobe and lighting effects. The audience was prepped for a time warp of hair band highlights and the energy on stage with this cast was electric.

The national non-equity touring company of HAIRSPRAY was a hit at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with an audience full of fans of this musical classic. From the opening moments to the finale, the electricity of a youthful and enthusiastic cast is contagious. I found myself wondering how they could maintain that pace and level of energy for the whole show, but they did it.
