​​​​​​​At New York City's Joyce Theater this week, July 16-21, 2019, Maria Kochetkova is performing eight short pieces by seven contemporary choreographers, joined by five dancers of quality. On Wednesday, July 17th, I experienced the sold-out performance.

Grammy Award-winner and two-time Emmy nominee Steve Tyrell celebrates his 15th anniversary performing in the Cafe Carlyle's revered holiday slot with an all-new show, December 3-31. The performance will feature favorites from the Great American Songbook including songs he has performed in major motion pictures, and of course, holiday classics.

Mrs Evita Bezuidenhout was presented to the audience, the nation and the world. She is still going stronger than ever. No longer a recognised Nationalist as she was during those years of apartheid rule, she is now a member of the African National Congress, secure in her Luthuli House kitchen where she cooks for reconciliation. For nearly forty years she has had to tolerate the impersonation of her by a local comedian. She tried to sue him for libel; she swore never to allow him into her life and yet, now in the 25th year of her democracy, she will be on the stage with Pieter-Dirk Uys at the same time.

This July and August, the Seymour Centre will present Tanya Ronder's thrilling play Table, an epic tale of belonging, identity and the things we pass on.

In 1944, a young music librarian named Genevieve Oswald at The New York Public Library argued that dance materials didn't fit well into the Music or Theatre archives, and should be collected separately and differently. What she created was one of the first archives devoted entirely to dance, originally called the Library's Dance Collection, and now known as the Jerome Robbins Dance Division. In the 75 years since its creation, the Dance Division has become the world's preeminent collection of dance research materials, and an invaluable resource to students, practitioners of all levels, researchers, writers, enthusiasts and artists. Chronicling the art of dance in all its forms, the Division acts as much more than a library. It preserves the history of dance by gathering diverse written, visual, and aural resources, and works to ensure the art form's continuity through active documentation and educational programs.

The 2011 musical adaption of the 2006 Academy Award-winning film Little Miss Sunshine comes to the stage in a hilarious and heart-warming production. The show is currently making a stop at Brighton Theatre Royal as part of a UK tour directed by Mehmet Ergen.

Ford's Theatre Society celebrated the legacy of President Abraham Lincoln at its Annual Gala on Sunday evening, June 2, 2019, at Ford's Theatre (511 10th Street NW). For more than 40 years, the Society has hosted this bipartisan event, which provides crucial support to the non-profit's theatrical and educational programs.

ACT 1 brings its 2018-19 'f**k the Classics' Season to a close with director/designer Jim Manning's unique reinterpretation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet with Violent Delights, a dance-based retelling set to a score of music from emerging Nashville artists. Violent Delights runs May 24-June 8 at Nashville's Darkhorse Theater.

Not all Royer-Greaves School for Blind students and adults can walk, but they can all dance. And dance, sing, and drum they will at a special May 18 public performance, to be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the school auditorium at 118 S. Valley Road in Paoli, PA.

Pasadena Playhouse - State Theatre of California is announcing entertainment and participants for the return of the Playhouse Block Party, in partnership with the Playhouse District Association, after last year's blockbuster inaugural event.  This all-day event, free to the public, is from 12-noon to 10:00pm on Saturday, June 8 on El Molino Ave. at Colorado Blvd.  There will be more than twenty -five performances on two different stages - a Main Stage and a Family Stage -- during the course of the day, in addition to activity booths hosted by some of Pasadena's most celebrated arts organizations, theatre tours, a silent disco, and more.

The highly anticipated season-closer of Billy Elliot the Musical has been a long-time coming for Theatre Calgary. With the promise of an all-Calgarian cast and more musical showcasing from emerging artists, there was a lot of excitement leading up to opening night. I left the Max Bell Theatre with the same excitement for all the things to come from this incredible production.

They may not be on the same page politically at all times, but Mike & Henry were at the same table in agreement about Steve Tyrell last night at Cafe Carlyle. In fact, when the votes were counted after the show, Steve Tyrell was a winner by a landslide in his 14th term as Cafe Carlyle super star (after taking over from Bobby Short in 2005). Steve's voice is not only a favorite in all corners of the USA, it's also been a favorite of some of the most important dignitaries of our generation. Bill and Hillary Clinton came to see Steve perform on one of her first nights out after the 2016 election. He has played for Presidents Bush and Trump. Tyrell has performed on stages all over the world, entertaining the likes of President Santos of Columbia, Prime Minister Netanyahu, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, as well as Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.

The world's largest student ballet scholarship competition - YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX (YAGP) is celebrating its 20th Anniversary Season, with its NYC Finals held at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. The week of ballet festivities will include YAGP's Final Round (April 17th), YAGP's critically acclaimed Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow Gala performance and dinner (April 18th), with a repeat Gala performance on April 19th. Lastly, on April 20th, YAGP will present an International Dance School Festival, where dancers from all over the globe will perform works representing each school's style and artistic tradition, ranging from beloved classics to cutting-edge contemporary dance.

Billy Elliot o Musical is a musical based on the 2000 film Billy Elliot. The music is by Elton John, and the book and lyrics are by Lee Hall, who wrote the film's screenplay. The plot revolves around Billy, a motherless British boy who trades boxing gloves for ballet shoes. The story of his personal struggle and fulfillment are balanced against a counter-story of family and community strife caused by the 1984-85 UK miners' strike in County Durham, in North Eastern England. Hall's screenplay was inspired in part by A. J. Cronin's 1935 novel about a miners' strike, The Stars Look Down, to which the musical's opening song pays homage.

Mark Weiss, was a 14-year old kid from New Jersey when he made a deal with a neighbor to cut his lawn in exchange for a 35mm camera. Thus began a lifelong journey of rock & roll mayhem that continues to this day. While in high school, Mark would sneak his camera into concerts, paying off security guards to get him closer to the stage. Mark developed the prints in his parent's bathroom to sell the next morning out of his school locker and then in front of the concert venue that night.

An exciting story of faith indicated for people of all religions, APARECIDA, by Walcyr Carrasco, and direction by Fernanda Chamma, will open at Teatro Bradesco on March 22. The show has original music and musical direction by Carlos Bauzys, original lyrics by Ricardo Severo, scenography by Richard Luiz, costumes by Fabio Namatame, light design by Cesar de Ramires, sound design by Gabriel D'Angelo and production by MPCult. With a cast of 33 artists and 12 musicians, 20 original songs, dozens of costumes and grandiose scenarios were created to tell the story of Nossa Senhora Aparecida (Our Lady of the Apparition, the patroness saint of Brazil), one of the greatest symbols of Brazilians' faith, and whose sanctuary receives more than 17 million followers a year.

Bay Area Dance Week, one of the nation's largest, most inclusive celebrations of movement and dance, returns this April 26 - May 5, 2019, to hundreds of venues throughout the Bay Area. If productions could be labelled as over-achievers, then this show would definitely sit right on top of that category for all the best reasons. For two hours, I was gasping for air as I couldn't stop laughing. I feel sorry for the patrons sitting around me, as I'm sure their ears will be ringing for quite some time of my high-pitched laughter. After receiving a large donation from the uncle of a pompous actor Max, The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society return to Brisbane's shores with Peter Pan Goes Wrong and to say that it is hilarious is an understatement.

A zany showcase filled with laugh-out-loud comedy, wild theatrics, arcane errata, and astonishing juggling feats. If you see one group of multi-faceted new-vaudevillians at the apex of their ambidextrous and alliterative ability, see The Flying Karamazov Brothers at the Majestic Theater, Gettysburg, Pa on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 7:30p.m..
