Sixty-five minutes of the most beautiful acapella tells the story of the British and German soldiers who put down their guns during the Christmas holiday of 1914 to come together as comrades during an all-too brief truce during World War I.

The Park is joining in the fun this year with another take on the Dickensian Victorian tale of greed and ghosts. Surprisingly, it’s unmistakably political. Alexander Knott’s Cratchit takes the novella’s poor, exploited worker and turns him into a hero for our times in a festive tour de force spearheaded by a terrific John Dalgliesh.

All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 tells the remarkable story of a World War I moment of peace. Based on a true story, writer Peter Rothstein uses traditional musical numbers and personal letters to tell the story of British soldiers fighting on the front lines against the Germans. As the story unfolds, the audience learns that the Pope has requested a Christmas truce and the British have refused to agree. Against orders and after much song and frivolity from the trenches, the soldiers dare to step out into no-man's land and a weird and wonderful Christmas celebration occurs.

National Alliance for Musical Theatre has announced the line-up of new musicals for their 33rd Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS on Thursday October 20 and Friday, October 21, 2021. This year, NAMT ‘s Festival of New Musicals will be presented as a unique digital and in-person hybrid, allowing wider accessibility for attendees.

The Wallis inaugurates their new pop-up performance space on the Promenade Terrace for live audiences with the world premiere of Tom Dugan’s TEVYE IN NEW YORK! June 23, 2021. Tom co-directs (with Michael Vale) his one-man show on the well-known musical theatre lead character of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. Tom managed to find time amongst his many, many writing projects to answer a few of my enquiries.

3rd Act Theatre Company closes their excellent second season with HEARTBREAK HOUSE. This comical farce from 1920 follows the eccentric Shotover family in an impromptu dinner party in Sussex, at the dawn of World War I. These vapid and self-centered characters are fun to watch on stage. The superb cast banters and incites laughs through Act III.
