The Bodyguard feels more like a tribute concert than a traditional Broadway musical. With its focus on the lead character, the show trades large-scale choreography and out-of-the-box supporting characters for a celebration of Whitney Houston’s music. Laced with nostalgia for the rhythms and styles of the '90s, the show reflects the increasing popularity of the themes, films, and music that shaped millennials’ childhood and adolescence.

Theater for the New City will present a work-in-progress reading of The Bird Is Done, a new family dramedy by Michael Fishman, on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 7 p.m. Directed by Jim Semmelman.

DEATH BECOMES HER, which runs Oct. 7 through Oct. 11 at the Ohio Theatre, is the rare production that not only captures the magic of the 1992 original film, but expands on the characters Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis created.
