Vocalist Storm Large, who shot to national prominence in 2006 as a finalist on the CBS show Rock Star: Supernova, brings her rock-fueled cabaret act to Club Helsinki Hudson on Sunday, September 29, at 8pm. Storm Large's repertoire ranges from original, sweaty and steamy hard-rock numbers; standards such as Jacques Brel's 'Ne Me Quitte Pas' and Cole Porter's 'I've Got You Under My Skin'; and rock-era ballads by Randy Newman and Lou Reed. She is also a vocalist with neo-lounge act Pink Martini. Storm spent the 1990s singing in clubs throughout San Francisco. Tired of the club scene, she moved to Portland to pursue a new career as a chef, but a last-minute cancellation in 2002 at a Portland club turned into a standing Wednesday night engagement for Storm and her new band, The Balls. It wasn't long before Storm had a cult-like following in Portland, and a renewed singing career that was soon to be launched onto the international stage.

Multi-faceted vocalist/songwriter/musician/performer/producer and restlessly creative femme fatale Sylvia Black has announced her new album, Twilight Animals (Originals and Covers for Tortured Lovers), which will be released on October 18. Today, multi-platinum Danish rock band Volbeat release their seventh studio album Rewind, Replay, Rebound. The star of Portlandia, Fred Armisen, will be touring Australia for the first time, bringing his show Comedy For Musicians But Everyone Is Welcome to Australian in August 2019. Tickets go on sale Monday 15 July at 10am and the Sydney show is part of the Just For Laughs Sydney Comedy Festival.

As it celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2019, South Asian performing arts company Phizzical is delighted to announce full casting for the world premiere of its upcoming musical thriller Stardust.

Today, Slothrust have released a double A-side with their dear friends and former tour-mates, Sons Of An Illustrious Father -- comprised of Josh Aubin, Lilah Larson, and Ezra Miller. The bands covered each others' songs for a split 7” whose proceeds will benefit The Trevor Project, who focus on suicide prevention within the LGBTQIA+ community.  

Tommy Stinson, a cofounder of legendary indie-rockers the Replacements, headlines an all-star benefit concert for Hudson's Little League at Club Helsinki Hudson on Friday, July 5, at 8pm. Stinson will appear with longtime friend and collaborator Chip Roberts in a duo called Cowboys in the Campfire. Also performing are freak-folk outfit Dust Bowl Faeries, indie-rock singer-songwriter Jesse Malin, and Guilty Pleasure, one of the region's premiere party bands.

The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF), New York's premier French cultural and language center, today announced the 2019 Crossing the Line Festival, featuring 11 performances and a gallery exhibition from a geographically, generationally, and artistically diverse group of artists whose work transcends genres and boundaries. All performances are world, US, or New York premieres; they are united by their convention-breaking fearlessness as they confront topics from social injustice to personal demons. Many of the performances pay homage to legendary artists of our time and previous eras, while the theme of migration and its transformational effects on identity informs several others.
