The Crossing and Donald Nally have won the 2019 Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance for their recording of Lansing McLoskey's Zealot Canticles. The award was presented yesterday, February 10, 2019, at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. This marks the Philadelphia new-music choir's second consecutive Grammy in the category, previously winning the 2018 Grammy for Gavin Bryars' The Fifth Century with PRISM Saxophone Quartet on ECM. The Crossing's recording of Thomas Lloyd's Bonhoeffer (Albany 2016) was nominated for the 2017 Grammy in the same category.

As a gesture of respect from one consummate showman to another, legendary musician PETER MURPHY has announced that he will be performing a special tribute to the late, great DAVID BOWIE on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at San Francisco's The Chapel. As the final show of his two week residency in which he will perform his solo albums in their entirety plus three 'Mr. Moonlight' sets of Bauhaus music, Peter will honor the music of the Starman by performing songs selected from Bowie's catalog. Says Peter of the show, 'Now that all and sundry have fallen off the David Bowie tribute band wagon, I thought I'd do my own.'

Pear Theatre continues its season with the World Premiere of "Sojourn" by playwright Evan Kokkila-Schumacher, directed by Caroline Clark. Set in the later half of this century, "Sojourn" follows two astronauts on a life-long mission into the cosmos. "Sojourn" previews on March 14, with press and Opening Night on Friday, March 15 (followed by a champagne gala). The show runs Thursdays through Sundays through April 7. Alt-rock godfather and Chainsaw Kittens frontman Tyson Meade has shared a new track, 'P.S. Nuclear Forest Dance Boogie'. The song premiered on Popmatters who writes that the track 'reminds us of Meade's ability to weave the unusual into the familiar and create musical settings that are as forward-looking now as they were when he began his recording career in the 1980s.' The track is the second single from his upcoming album Robbing The Nuclear Family, which will be released on March 22nd on Shaking Shanghai.

Hedwig returns to Texas in the Austin debut of the 2014 Tony Award-winning incarnation of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's Hedwig and the Angry Inch playing The Topfer at ZACH running January 23-March 3, 2019 with a new "Pay-What-You-Will" program to begin with this production. In collaboration with University of Texas at Austin's Drama and Theatre for Youth and Communities (DTYC) MFA Program, This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing will now join the season lineup running January 13, 19, 20, and 26, 2019 in The Whisenhunt at ZACH, performed and devised by the ensemble. Allen Robertson's smash-hit musical for all ages, Tortoise and Hare will close in The Kleberg at ZACH on January 27.
