Actor/Conductor Damon Gupton guest hosts an upcoming episode of the hit NPR weekly music program From the Top, airing nationally during the week of May 6 on participating stations and by podcast. The episode, which features America's best young classical musicians, was taped before a live audience at Interlochen Center for the Arts in March 2019. On the broadcast, Mr. Gupton interviews the young musicians, all students at the Interlochen Arts Academy, and conducts a performance by the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra. Internationally renowned, multiple award winning performer, Yael Rasooly, brings her newest cabaret show, Love Must Have an End, to Don't Tell Mama for two performances: May 9th at 7pm and May 11th at 4pm. The richly decadent world of the 1920s and '30s in Berlin and Paris is on dazzling display in this performance by Rasooly and Pianist, Daniel Rein. Audiences are invited into the vibrant world of the German cabaret before the Nazis rose to power, through the repertoire of Brecht and Weill, the Berlin cabaret songs, songs performed by Marlene Dietrich and the poetic French chansons of Edith Piaf. Rasooly and Rein tell the stories of the back streets and alleys, as well as the glamour and exuberance in the final years of the Weimar Republic - stories of longing, grief, love, passion, resilience and dreams in the fragile and powerful interval between the past and the future.

In celebration of Earth Day, the Asian American Arts Alliance will present a free program on May 1 at 6:30 pm to foreground how artists are responding to climate change and other environmental issues through their work.

Passions flare and cultures collide in the sultry streets of New Orleans beginning May 25, with performances continuing though July 7.

The Brotherhood/Sister Sol (Bro/Sis) -- Harlem's nationally acclaimed social justice, youth development, and education organization -- will honor legendary dance choreographer Bill T. Jones, civil rights litigator Debo Adegbile, and TV producer and Black Girls Rock! founder Beverly Bond at its 15th Annual VOICES Gala in New York City on May 21 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom, it announced today. The annual charity gala, which raises critical funds for Bro/Sis' life-changing education programs and support services, will be hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist and ABC News correspondent Deborah Roberts.

Andrew Dykstal, a writer from Arlington, VA, has been named the Grand Prize Winner of the 35th Annual Writers of the Future, and Aliya Chen, an illustrator from Fair Oaks, CA has been named the Grand Prize Winner of the 30th Annual Illustrators of the Future L. Ron Hubbard Achievement Awards for Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contests in the genres of Science Fiction & Fantasy held at the Taglyan Cultural Complex in Hollywood, CA on Friday evening, April 5, 2019.  A capacity crowd of 400 people attended the Black-Tie GALA. Presented by Author Services, Inc. and Galaxy Press, the theme for the two-hour awards show was Retro Robotics.

Bursaries totalling 15,000 were awarded to four outstanding dance creatives, with a further two creatives to receive in-kind support, at the 2019 Ideas Summit, a day-long event on Friday 29 March, hosted by East London Dance at Stratford Circus Arts Centre.
