ON GOLDEN POND is the love story of Norman and Ethyl Thayer, who are returning for theirforty eighth summer together at their lake home, on Golden Pond. They are visited by their daughter Chelsea, who brings her fiancť, Bill, and his 13 year old son, Billy. The son stays with the Thayers while Chelsea and Bill go to Europe where they get married. Billy soon becomes the ďgrandsonĒ the Thayers have always wanted, reviving Normanís youth and teaching him some current teenage slang. The other character is Chairlie, the local man who delivers the mail by boat, and who has always had a crush on Chelsea.

Cambridge Arts Theatre today announces a new UK tour of James Roose-Evans' adaptation of Helene Hanff's novel 84 Charing Cross Road, in collaboration with Lee Dean and Salisbury Playhouse. Richard Beecham directs Stefanie Powers as Helene Hanff and Clive Francis as Frank Doel. Cast Announced For Pride Films And Plays' PINK ORCHIDS

Casting has been announced for Pride Films and Plays' American premiere of PINK ORCHIDS - the first play of the "PAC Pride Fest" - a summer season of five plays. PINK ORCHIDS, by Patrick Cash, is a British play in which five eloquently interwoven and often funny monologues explore the experience of living with HIV - a virus that attacks the emotions as well as the body. It premiered in London in 2016 under the title THE HIV MONOLOGUES. This production will be directed by Brennan T. Jones and will open to the press on Friday, June 8 at 7:30 pm, in the Pride Arts Center's Buena space. Jones directed JUMPERS FOR GOALPOSTS for Pride Films and Plays in summer 2017 and was Assistant Director for TimeLine Theatre's THE AUDIENCE last fall. (more...)

'On Golden Pond' is a 1979 play by Ernest Thompson. The plot focuses on aging couple Ethel and Norman Thayer, who spend each summer at their home on a lake called Golden Pond. During the year the story takes place, they are visited by daughter Chelsea with her fiance Bill Ray and his son Billy Ray Jr. The play explores the often turbulent relationship the young woman shared with her father growing up, and the difficulties faced by a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage. BWW Review: ON GOLDEN POND is Heartwarming at The Redhouse at City Center

Devotion, passion, and drive are just some of the words that come to mind when I think of The Redhouse, 'a nonprofit, multi-arts organization dedicated to the production and presentation of interdisciplinary works, theatre, music and visual art.' The Redhouse has become a large part of the theatre scene within the Central New York area and it now has a new location at Syracuse, NY's City Center, just a few blocks away from its starter home. The Redhouse may have moved on to a larger venue with three performing spaces, but the heart is still very much there. What better way to open a new space than with the touching, entertaining, and heartwarming production of Ernest Thompson's On Golden Pond, brilliantly directed by Vincent J. Cardinal. (more...)

That special place was the inspiration for On Golden Pond, his extraordinarily popular, bittersweet play about love and aging, recrimination and reconciliation. Mariachi Opera About Divided Immigrant Family Returns To Houston Grand Opera

At a time when our nation is wrestling with tough questions about immigration, Houston Grand Opera is bringing back its bilingual production of Cruzar la Cara de la Luna / To Cross the Face of the Moon, a moving story that chronicles the joys and struggles of three generations of a family divided between countries and cultures through the rich melodies of mariachi. HGO presents three special performances on May 17, 19, and 20 in the HGO Resilience Theater at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Composed by Jose 'Pepe' Martinez with libretto by Leonard Foglia and known as the world's first mariachi opera, Cruzar has been performed to audiences around the world, including in New York City in January 2018. HGO's production will feature the Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Los Camperos. Tickets for these productions at the HGO Resilience Theater in the George R. Brown Convention Center are available at HGO.org. Parking is available at the Avenida North Garage located at 1815 Rusk Street, across from Resilience Theater.
