ON GOLDEN POND is the love story of Norman and Ethyl Thayer, who are returning for theirforty eighth summer together at their lake home, on Golden Pond. They are visited by their daughter Chelsea, who brings her fiancť, Bill, and his 13 year old son, Billy. The son stays with the Thayers while Chelsea and Bill go to Europe where they get married. Billy soon becomes the ďgrandsonĒ the Thayers have always wanted, reviving Normanís youth and teaching him some current teenage slang. The other character is Chairlie, the local man who delivers the mail by boat, and who has always had a crush on Chelsea.

Review Roundup: HENRY V at Hartford Stage

Henry V is the first Shakespeare production, and the second play overall, in Hartford Stage's 55-year history to be staged in the round. In addition to Grush, the ensemble cast - comprised of half men and half women - features Karen Aldridge as Exeter, Miles Anderson as Pistol, Kate Forbes as the Constable of France and Burgundy, Peter Francis James as the Chorus and Sir Thomas Erpingham, Felicity Jones Latta as the Archbishop of Canterbury, Nym and Alice, and Baron Vaughn as Fluellen and Mistress Quickly. Hartford Stage Associate Artistic Director Elizabeth Williamson will helm the production, which marks her Shakespeare directorial debut for the Tony Award-winning theatre. (more...)

Winnipesaukee Playhouse Launches 2019 Professional Season

NH's consistently award-winning, and perhaps youngest, professional theatre has just launched their 2019 summer season, and topping the list is a June 12 opening of On Golden Pond that will be directed by author and Academy Award winner, Ernest Thompson. Set in Maine, the film shot in NH's Squam Lake locations not far from the Playhouse, the art of the play is not in its settings but in the relationships that emerge from golden days and loving bonds - truth revealed in any locale. On Golden Pond is part of a thematic year of art - and artists - they're calling 'Made in America,' with work that speaks to what that means and how our very diversity actually unifies us in the iconography of discovery. Emmy Award winner Sally Struthers and Broadway & TV favorite Joyce Reehling headline Love, Loss, and What I Wore at Judson Theatre Company (Morgan Sills, Executive Producer and Daniel Haley, Artistic Director). Struthers is best known for her roles on All in the Family and  Gilmore Girls. Reehling is a beloved veteran of stage and television (Fifth of July, Law & Order). Love, Loss, and What I Wore opens Thursday, October 18 at 7:00 pm and runs through Sunday, October 21 at the Hannah Center Theatre (on the campus of The O'Neal School, 3300 Airport Road, Southern Pines, NC 28387).  Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
