Write Club's 2nd Annual Summer Playfest Returns This August

Playfest is WRITE CLUB's short-play festival, giving emerging NYC-based playwrights and directors the resources, venue, and support to bring fully staged (not workshopped) short plays to a live audience, each running 10 to 25 minutes and featuring a cast of 1 to 4 actors. The festival grew out of WRITE CLUB, an artist collective founded in April 2024 by Ethan Manuel Homen and Akari Alishio, built around closing the gap in access to traditional theater spaces for writers from marginalized backgrounds. Last year's inaugural Playfest sold out.

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky can surely claim to be one of the world's most talented and memorable composers. Born in Russia in 1840, he composed some of the most well-loved and memorable ballets of all time such as Swan Lake and Nutcracker, as well as operas such as the masterful Eugene Onegin, and classical materpieces such as his piano and violin concertos. He died in 1893, shortly after premiering his Sixth Symphony (Pathétique)from cholera. But despite gifting the world with some of the most beautiful music ever written, his personal life was turbulent and tragic.
