On Monday, May 7th The League of Professional Theatre Women (Kelli Lynn Harrison & Lisa Rothe, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been leading the gender parity conversation and championing women in the professional theatre for over 35 years, presented the final Oral History event of their 2017-18 season with two-time Tony Award winner Chita Rivera in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (111 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street). Ms. Rivera talked about her life and illustrious career with Broadway World's lead correspondent, Richard Ridge, host of Backstage with Richard Ridge.  (more...)

???????Park Square Theatre's Andy Boss Thrust Stage is once again the home to Flying Foot Forum's signature storytelling with FRENCH TWIST, a cabaret of gorgeous music, theatrical storytelling and percussive dance set in a Paris Nightclub that runs from June 22 to July 15, 2018. This 25th anniversary production starts with the premise of the company's original production which premiered at The Guthrie in 2008, but now includes new characters, melodic new songs and inventive dances. Montalvo Arts Center Raises More Than Half A Million At Annual Gala

From acrobats to Can-Can dancers Montalvo Arts Center's historical Villa and grounds were transformed into the iconic Parisian night club Moulin Rouge for its biennial fundraising gala, Moulin Montalvo: A Gala Night in Montmartre on June 16. The event broke all previous fundraising records, collecting more than half a million dollars for the arts organization. The evening included live entertainment, an array of sumptuous cuisine by Le Papillon paired with Champagne Taittinger and French wines, plus a high-spirited live auction. The $600,000 raised from this black-tie event will support the Center's artistic and educational programming efforts and ongoing mission to engage the community in the creative process. (more...)

Paramore Returns to Shore After Sold-Out PARAHOY! Cruise

The third annual journey was a four-day adventure from Miami to Nassau, Bahamas that took place from April 6th-10th, during which 2700 guests from 32 countries boarded Norwegian Jade and were treated to a variety of performances, activities and experiences. Paramore performed 2 pool deck shows as well as special “mini set” acoustic performances in the ship's intimate Stardust Theater. Those performances saw “Grudges” performed live for the first time and the band being joined onstage by Aaron Weiss (mewithoutYou) for a live performance of their collaboration, “No Friend.” Guests became the stars during “Paraoke,” performing Paramore songs while the band cheered them on from just feet away on stage, laughed as the band judged a belly flop contest, and one lucky duo played ping-pong with Zac Farro and Taylor York.
