Life's greatest tragedy is the passage of time. It is a lesson we all must learn eventually. And if we are remembered, then we live forever. Disney’s The Lion King transposes this message from screen to stage through an international collaboration of talent that supercedes the strength of the 1994 animated film from which it came.

Asolo Repertory Theatre has announced complete casting for the epic closing of the 2024 – 2025 Season, Jesus Christ Superstar, which begins previews on May 14, 2025. Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Lyrics by Tim Rice and directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes. Jesus Christ Superstar runs May 14 – June 15. 

Disneyland guests were in for a fun surprise earlier this week when Broadway and Disney vet Susan Egan showed up unannounced at a '90s themed event. During the evening, guests caught the star leading attendees in a singalong from Hercules.

For two weekends in a row in January 2025, Segerstrom Center for the Arts presented some powerhouse talents from the world of Broadway to their enjoyable Cabaret Series. The York Theatre Company will present a developmental reading of Desperation, or The Return of the Black Crook!: A Musical Comedy Fantasy with book and lyrics by Bryan Leys and music by Clare Cooper, with music direction by Frank Lindquist and directed by Bryan Leys.

Second show this spring at the Shawnee Mission Park Theatre In The Park, is ANASTASIA, a 2017 fairy tale based on a wished-for result concerning the Russian Grand Duchess Anatasia. This, in turn, was based on an earlier 1997 animated film and an even earlier imagining in a 1956 film. ANASTASIA the Musical is fortunate to have found some super voices for all its lead roles.
