The Luckenbooth Theatre Academy Announces Cast For A CHRISTMAS CAROL

In this new adaptation of the beloved tale, written and directed by Artistic Director Megan Hildebrand, the Luckenbooth Theatre is encouraging their Academy Players and community to give back to those in need this holiday season. 'Luckenbooth does a benefit production annually and, with the launch of our Academy this season, we thought there was no better time to give back to our community than during the holidays - to be able to also get our student actors involved has been amazingly rewarding,' says Hildebrand. There are two, simple ways to contribute: Bring a stamped letter to Santa and drop it off in their mailbox located in their lobby - for each letter received, The Make A Wish Foundation will receive $1. You may also bring an unwrapped toy to place under our Christmas tree - all toys donated will be given to Toys for Tots. If you bring a toy on Industry Night (December 6th), it will count as your admission cost! (more...)

LOS NUTCRACKERS Comes to BAAD For 15th Anniversary Production

BAAD! The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance proudly presents Los Nutcrackers: A Christmas Carajo, written by Charles Rice-Gonzalez and directed by Fernando Vieira. This year marks the play's 15th anniversary and the first year that Vieira helms the work. The play interweaves two holiday classics, The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol, and creates a queer, Latino play about a gay couple who go on a psychedelic trip through their lives one Christmas Eve. Trinity Rep's annual A Christmas Carol production is always delightful in new and exciting ways. This year, they've partnered with 56 choirs from Rhode Island (and a few from Massachusetts) to make each show unique and feature even more local talent. This is a lovely addition to the classic story, and another way that Trinity manages to give this play something new year after year. Set in a classic Victorian backdrop, this year's production features lots of singing and dancing, and some pretty fantastic effects and performances. (more...)

American Blues Theater Adds Ensemble Members, 'Buddy Holly' Zachary Stevenson Appointed To Artistic Affiliates

American Blues Theater announces the addition of five new Ensemble members and one new Artistic Affiliate to the Blues family. Joining the Ensemble is director, designer and Associate Producer Elyse Dolan, who directed several works in past Ripped and Blue Ink festivals; designer Jared Gooding, lighting designer of Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story; actor Philip Earl Johnson, who is slated to appear in the upcoming Chicago premiere of Steven Dietz's On Clover Road; director Chuck Smith, director of the recent American Blues production of Pearl Cleage's Flyin' West; and actress and playwright Wandachristine, who won many awards for her solo performance Beauty's Daughter. Actor Zachary Stevenson has been named an Artistic Affiliate. Stevenson recently made his Chicago debut as 'Buddy Holly' in American Blues Theater's Joseph Jefferson Award-winning musical Buddy - the Buddy Holly Story, in which he also won a Jeff Award for Performance in a Musical. Pontine Theatre Hosts A VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS

The production, performed by Pontine Co-Directors, Marguerite Mathews & Greg Gathers, includes a Toy Theatre adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol and a puppet play, The Knave of Hearts by Vermont's Louise Saunders. Performances are Thursday at 3pm, Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 3pm and Sunday at 2pm at the Plains School located at #1 Plains Avenue, Portsmouth NH. Trinity Rep Announces Record-Setting Production Of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE

Trinity Repertory Company's 2018-19 Season opener, Pride and Prejudice, recently ended a successful run, playing to sold out audiences and over 90% capacity. The comedy, which ran October 4 through November 4 was the highest-selling comedy produced by the organization since The Odd Couple in the 2009-10 Season. The production was also notable for playing to higher paid capacity than any show since The Completely Fictional - Utterly True - Final Strange Tale of Edgar Allan Poe in the 2010-11 Season. More than half of the Pride and Prejudice public performances sold out. Adapted from the Jane Austen novel by Kate Hamill, this production was directed by Birgitta Victorson. The cast included resident acting company members Angela Brazil, Janice Duclos, Rebecca Gibel, Rachael Warren, and Joe Wilson, Jr. They were accompanied on stage by guest actors Richard Donelly, Shelley Fort, and Katie Croyle.
