One day he took a single picture from each story to Peter Wender's office at a popular children's book publisher. Mr. Wenders was fascinated by the pictures and asked Mr. Burdick to return the next day so he could read the stories. Mr. Burdick left the pictures and promised to return, but this is where the mystery begins. Harris Burdick did not return. Despite years of searching and detective work, Mr. Wenders was never able to locate a trace of the missing author. Based on Burdick's artwork, The Mysteries of Harris Burdick - a collection of three original scripts by Bainbridge playwright Miranda Ray, will deliver a surprising trio of possible endings.

BWW Review: Book-It's RETURNING THE BONES Mesmerizes with Vivid Storytelling
by Jay Irwin - March 31, 2019
Dear Readers, when I hear those three potentially terrifying words "one person show" I imagine a self-indulgent ride through self-aggrandizing memories that begin with the cliche "Oh hey, I didn't see you there…". But Gin Hammond's "Returning the Bones" currently playing at the Erickson Theatre from Book-It Repertory Theatre could not be further from that stereotype with an absolutely mesmerizing piece that demands to be seen.
BWW Review: WET's Hilariously Creepy FEATHERS AND TEETH
by Jay Irwin - March 30, 2019
From the moment you set foot inside the theater at 12th Ave Arts to catch Washington Ensemble Theatre's current production of Charise Castro Smith's "Feather's and Teeth" you'll be struck with two things. First, the desperately trying to be idyllic 1970's family home that's slightly off kilter from the brilliant set by Pete Rush, and second, the earworm of Nancy Sinatra's insistent "It's Such a Pretty World Today" boring its way into your head thanks to the pitch perfect sound design from Maggie L. Rogers, both setting a delightfully askew tone for what's about to happen. And both setting up the fantastic journey with a fantastic design team and fantastic actors and fantastic staging making for a … say it with me … a wonderfully creepy show. (I told you things were a little off, right? Don't expect the expected.)
Velocity Presents Neve Mazique-Bianco's LOVER OF LOW CREATURES
by BWW News Desk - March 30, 2019
Velocity is very excited to announce their upcoming co-production with Seattle's own rising dance star Neve Mazique-Bianco's Lover of Low Creatures, a world premiere that will run at Velocity's Founders Theater May 9-12 2019. This radical, genre-defying work is a sung-through Nubian musical ballet that tells the coming-of-age of a young, bi-racial, disabled, queer child growing up deep in the heart of white, small-town New Jersey. While the performance is a prequel to Bet Ya UnGodly Things, which premiered at Gay City Arts in January 2018, Mazique-Bianco is kicking things up a notch this time by teaming up with another rising star in Seattle performance, director Sara Porkalob, who recently co-curated the Intiman's 2017 season and snagged three Gregory Awards in 2018 for her new play Dragon Lady, in addition to landing on Seattle Magazine's "Most Influential People of 2018." This will be the first collaboration between these two radical artists of color who are changing the face of performance in Seattle, and will mark Mazique-Bianco's first full-length performance at Velocity.
