Lamb's Players Theatre Presents The Peter Pupping Band & Guitar Extravaganza 2009 8/16

Lamb's Players Theatre welcomes back multifaceted musician Peter Pupping and his string quartet for Guitar Extravaganza 2009, the newest installation of the Sunday Night at Lamb's series. Known for their versatile and eclectic mix of Latin jazz, bossa nova, flamenco, classical, Spanish and more, the group will perform for the third time at Lamb's Players Theatre on Sunday, August 16 at 7:00pm.
La Jolla Playhouse Conservatory Participants Reflect On Their Summer Of Theatre Training

La Jolla Playhouse Conservatory students, grades 10-12, have just completed the six-week summer program that allows them to hone their skills and develop into the theatre artists of tomorrow. Designed for performers who want to pursue a professional career in theatre, the program offers them the opportunity to work with seasoned theatre professionals, ultimately helping to prepare them for a college theatre program. The 2009 program ran June 29th - August 7th.

La Jolla Playhouse is pleased to present The 39 Steps, directed by Maria Aitken and adapted for the stage by Patrick Barlow, based on an original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon, based on the book by John Buchan. The production will run August 11 - September 13 in the Mandell Weiss Theatre (media night: Sunday August 16 at 7:00 pm). The 39 Steps will make its West Coast premiere at La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle Repertory Theatre before starting on a national tour.

Starlight Theatre's Production Of ANNIE Stars Orphaned Dogs; Performances Run From 8/13-30

Starlight Theatre and the Helen Woodward Animal Center have partnered together to train an 'orphaned' dog to star in Annie for their summer season. The adorable one-year old Barney, a terrier and golden retriever mix, is currently waiting at the Helen Woodward for his debut on opening night. Together, with owner/operator Rob Kuty of San Diego Pet Training, Barney has trained over the past few months to perform his first and last stage role as Sandy in the family musical classic Annie.

The Old Globe's production of Charles Ludlam's gothic spoof, The Mystery of Irma Vep stars Jeffrey M. Bender and John Cariani are a 'cast of thousands,' taking on the roles of Lady Enid, Lord Edgar, Nicodemus Underwood - and a mummy - among many others. Directed by Henry Wishcamper. The Mystery of Irma Vep will run in the Globe's Arena Stage at the San Diego Museum of Art's James S. Copley Auditorium through Sept. 6, 2009.
