Dreyfess, Anderson, Marshall-Green and More Featured in La Jolla's LARAMIE, 10 YEARS LATER Reading, 10/12

The famed regional theater La Jolla Playhouse is yet one more theater to take part in the nationwide The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later (An Epilogue) event on October 12 at 8:00pm, the 11th anniversary of the brutal murder of gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard. 

More than 100 other theatres worldwide will simultaneously present staged interactive readings of the story of a community reexamining itself in the wake of a tragedy, more than 10 years later.  Glenn Close will be hosting a pre-show at the Lincoln Center reading at 7:00pm that will be broadcast to the participating theaters. 

The La Jolla cast will now include Nancy Anderson, Kandis Chappell, Bonnie Dumanis, Wayne Duvall, Richard Dreyfuss, Robert Foxworth, Allyson Green, Logan Marshall-Green, Pat Launer, Kathryn Meisle, Amanda Naughton, James Newcomb, Mayor Jerry Sanders, Lisa Sanders, Stark Sands, T. Ryder Smith, James Sutorius, Bruce Vilanch, Anne Marie Welsh, James Winker, Mare Winningham, Sam Woodhouse, and Doug Wright.

Participating theaters include Arena Stage in Washington, Seattle Repertory Theater, Berkeley Repertory Theater, the Newman Performing Arts Center in Denver, The Alliance Theater in Atlanta, the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, the University of Wyoming and many more.

Proceeds from the La Jolla reading will benefit the Hillcrest Youth Center, a program operated under the auspices of the San Diego LGBT Community Center. Tickets and information are available by calling 858-550-1010 or by visiting www.lajollaplayhouse.org. 

The original play, The Laramie Project, is the mastermind of Tectonic Theater Project, a company out of New York City. Shortly after the murder of Matthew Shepard back in October 1998, Moisés Kaufman, founder and artistic director of Tectonic Theatre Project, along with nine other company members, traveled to Laramie, Wyoming and started interviewing the townspeople there. With 200 interviews and a year and a half worth of work, The Laramie Project was brought to life, debuting in Denver in 2000.
