The Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto has announced the cast and creative team of Charles Ludlam's gothic spoof, The Mystery of Irma Vep. Jeffrey Bender and John Cariani are a 'cast of thousands,' taking on the roles of Lady Enid, Lord Edgar, Nicodemus Underwood - and a mummy - among many others. Directed by Henry Wishcamper.

NVA Announces Summer Comedy Festival, Begins 7/30

New Village Arts (NVA) is pleased to announce the newest summer tradition for North County - the New Village Arts Summer Comedy Festival! The festival begins on July 30 and consists of one mainstage production, two off-night one-acts and an unforgettable evening of music. Featuring the work of David Ives, local San Diegan Emily Reit and the musical stylings of Billy Watson, this festival is full of events to make you think, smile and laugh out loud. NVA Associate Artistic Director Joshua Everett Johnson directs the mainstage show, David Ives' Time Flies and Ruff Yeager and Kristianne Kurner helm the off-night one acts, Emily Reit's Prom Night and David Ives' Sure Thing.

The First Wives Club - A New Musical has extend its run by an additional week due to popular demand. The Broadway-bound musical features a book by Tony Award winner Rupert Holmes and a score by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland. Directed by Francesca Zambello with choreography by Lisa Stevens and music direction by Ron Melrose, The First Wives Club will now run through Aug. 30.

Annual Summer Shakespeare Intensive For San Diego Teens To Conlcude With Production Of PERICLES

The Old Globe?s second annual Summer Shakespeare Intensive for Teens began on July 20 and will conclude on August 17 with a performance of Shakespeare?s Pericles, Prince of Tyre. The play will be performed in English with scenes in Spanish and American Sign Language. The performance will also be interpreted in sign language for the deaf and hard of hearing. The Intensive is a classical acting program designed to provide an opportunity for committed high school students to refine their acting skills through a full-time, four-week course culminating in a performance on the Globe?s outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre stage. Executive Producer Lou Spisto announced that the Edgerton Foundation's New American Play Award has been granted to The Old Globe in support of the world premiere of Sammy. The $75,000 award will allow for an extension of the rehearsal period of Sammy, a new musical based on the life of Sammy Davis, Jr. with book, music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse.
