Mo 'olelo To Present A Reading Of DOG AND WOLF From 9/24-26 As Part Of The Joan B. Kroc's Upcoming Event

From September 24 to 26, 2009, the Joan B. Kroc Institute of Peace & Justice is presenting a three-day event to highlight the ability of the arts to transform individuals and reconcile communities who have suffered conflict and violence. Titled Bearing Exquisite Witness, the festival will showcase playwrights, filmmakers, poets, musicians, visual artists and academics from the fields of theater arts and conflict resolution who are using the creative power of art to raise awareness, prevent violence, help communities recover, change policies of exclusion and heal trauma.

Drama Desk Award Winner Rachel York has joined the cast of the highly anticipated national stage production of The 101 Dalmatians Musical. As a Broadway/San Diego ~ A Nederlander Presentation, it will play the San Diego Civic Theatre from June 1 - 6, 2010.

WICKED National Tour Cast Set For DEFYING INEQUALITY Benefit At Birch North Park Theatre 8/24

On Monday, August 24 at 7:30PM, the First National Touring Company of WICKED will host DEFYING INEQUALITY, an evening of cabaret performances promoting equality and civil rights. Held at the Birch North Park Theatre, and produced by company members of WICKED, the event will feature members of the cast and crew as well as guest performers. This one-night only event will benefit Equality California, Empire State Pride Agenda, Garden State Equality and Vermont Freedom to Marry Task Force, four non-profit charitable organizations working to legislate equality and protect civil rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. All proceeds will be distributed evenly among the four organizations. DEFYING INEQUALITY is an evening intended for mature audiences.

As one beloved Cygnet member spreads his wings to make his new home in Seattle, Washington, two new staff members are settling in to make their home at Cygnet Theatre. Joshua Rowland, Cygnet's Patron Services Manager since January 2007, ends his position with Cygnet on August 23rd. Mike 'Rojo' Reynolds will take over as Cygnet's new Patron Services Manager and Jessica John has been named Cygnet's new Public Relations Director. Both officially took their Cygnet titles on August 10th.

The next NVA mainstage production will be David Ives' hysterical and philosophically clever Time Flies, directed by Associate Artistic Director Joshua Everett Johnson. Time Flies is a series of short plays, with a cast of eight actors who make quick changes between being mayflies, a washing machine and a famous french painter, to name a few.

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the complete cast and creative team for the world premiere of Sammy, a new musical based on the life of Sammy Davis, Jr. with book, music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, and additional songs by Bricusse and Anthony Newley. Directed by Keith Glover with choreography by Keith Young and music supervision by Ian Fraser, Sammy will run in the Old Globe Theatre Sept. 19 - Nov. 8. Previews run from Sept. 19 - Oct. 1. Opening night is Oct. 2 at 8:00 p.m.

Starlight Theatre and the Helen Woodward Animal Center have partnered together to train an 'orphaned' dog to star in Annie for their summer season. The adorable one-year old Barney, a terrier and golden retriever mix, is currently waiting at the Helen Woodward for his debut on opening night. Together, with owner/operator Rob Kuty of San Diego Pet Training, Barney has trained over the past few months to perform his first and last stage role as Sandy in the family musical classic Annie.
