The Oregon Shakespeare Festival continues to expand its ongoing commitment to the development and production of new work with five new commissions. American Revolutions: the United States History Cycle adds Ayad Akhtar, Kirsten Greenidge, Stephen Karam, Lisa Loomer and Karen Zacarias to its list of commissioned writers.
Irving Berlin's WHITE CHRISTMAS Opens at Lakewood Theatre Tonight

Lakewood Theatre Company continues its 60th season with a reprise production of last year's holiday hit, Irving Berlin's White Christmas. With stage direction by Dan Murphy and musical direction by Eric Little, the show features the song and dance talents of Thomas Lindsley, Tommy Stefanek, Leah Yorkston and Lindsay Michelet.
Art Intallation Celebrating Frida Kahlo Opens at The Blue House, 1/4-1/19

In conjunction with the launch of its 2013 national touring production Frida, un retablo, Milagro is also pleased to present The Blue House, an art installation created by Susana Espino that explores the life and work of Frida Kahlo. Situated in el Zocalo, a community space adjacent to Milagro's lobby, the walk-through exhibit will depict vignettes from Kahlos' home, the "Blue House" in Coyoacan, Mexico. Visitors will have the opportunity to read Frida's letters and poetry, try on clothing and make-up, and even try their own hand at drawing a self-portrait.

After over 30 years of exploring mask theater Imago creators Carol Triffle and Jerry Mouawad are closing their world acclaimed production "ZooZoo" in order to focus on a new company they intend to launch next season that will incorporate dance, movement, and comedy. Imago will present the final performances of "ZooZoo" for Portland audiences from tonight, Dec 7 to Jan 1.
Dámaso Rodriguez Named New Artistic Director at Artists Repertory Theatre

Artists Repertory Theatre today announced that Dámaso Rodriguez has been selected as the next Artistic Director beginning in January 2013. Rodriguez takes the artistic reins of the 30-year-old Artists Rep from retiring Artistic Director Allen Nause, who has led the company for the past 25 years. Well known in Los Angeles for his daring, thrilling and visceral work as a multiple award-winning director, Rodriguez will direct the West Coast Premiere of Ten Chimneys, by Jeffery Hatcher, as his Artists Rep directorial debut in April.

Portland Ovations Receives NEA Art Works Grant

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced that Portland Ovations is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. Portland Ovations is recommended for a $40,000 grant to support its core programming in contemporary chamber music, dance and global arts with a special emphasis on its series celebrating the centennial of Igor Stravinsky's 'Rite of Spring.'
NEA Grant Funds New Work at OSF

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival learned today that it is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. OSF was recommended for a $100,000 grant to support Naomi Wallace's new work, The Liquid Plain, which will be staged in the Thomas Theatre in 2013 and run from July 2 to November 3.
