Artists Rep Presents RED HERRING, Beginning 2/12

If you pay attention, will the clues lead you in the right direction? Replete with farcical spy antics and ill-fitting shoes, something smells fishy in this comedic noir fable. A pulpy delight awaits with Commie spies afoot, the H-bomb looming and McCarthy's detective daughter hot on the trail of a fog-filled murder case. As the knots of three convoluted relationships tie and fray, the plot-crossed lovers in this 1950s espionage tale will bumble, subvert and strategize their way to finding each other… eventually unraveling their trysts into a riotous, inescapable tangle.
OSF Opens 2013 Season on February 22

The Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2013 preview performances begin February 15, and the season will open Friday night, February 22 with Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, directed by David Ivers. On Saturday, August Wilson's Two Trains Running, directed by Lou Bellamy, takes the stage, as does Lerner and Loewe's classic American musical My Fair Lady, directed by Amanda Dehnert. Sunday afternoon in the Thomas Theatre, Shakespeare's King Lear opens, directed by OSF Artistic Director Bill Rauch.

Courtney Freed and Rebecca Johnson will star in The Coco & Ruby Variety Hour, a dazzling trip down memory lane and a peek into the hilarious and wacky lives of the these two ginger dames. Coco and Ruby mysteriously fell out of their humdrum lives in 1940's Newark, New Jersey and into modern day Hollywood to live the dream! These two characters from the hit web series, 'Coco & Ruby,' written by Rachel Roderman and directed by Steve Brian, will shuffle-ball-change right out of your computer screen on February 15th to bring you a LIVE show full of old-school comedy and musicianship reminiscent of Lucille Ball and Betty Hutton. The Coco & Ruby Variety Hour will include many of your favorite WWII era standards, as well as vintage takes on contemporary pop songs.

The Portland-grown Fertile Ground City-Wide Festival of New Work offers a multitude of artistic endeavors from Portland artists at different points in development and in variety of genres like theatre, musical theatre, dance, multidisciplinary arts and visual art. FG13 brings dozens upon dozens of new artistic works from Portland's teeming jungle of artists into the light to thrive on stages, and in nooks and crannies all over Portland from today, January 24 to Sunday, February 3, 2013.

Film and stage fight director Kendall Wells will conduct two different series of classes at Lakewood Theatre Company, today, January 19 - February 9, 2013.
THE GIN GAME to Replace THE INVISIBLE HAND at Artists Rep, 3/26-4/28

Artists Rep will present The Gin Game by D.L. Coburn, starring Allen Nause and Vana O'Brien, directed by JoAnn Johnson. This two-person, two-act play is a 1978 Pulitzer Prize winner and garnered multiple Tony Award nominations both with its original 1977 production and the Broadway revival in 1997. This play replaces the originally planned production of The Invisible Hand by Ayad Akhtar.
Gallery Theater to Open THE 39 STEPS, 1/18

Pardon, but we thought it fair to warn you that viewing The 39 Steps at Gallery Theater may cause spontaneous laughter, uncontrollable genuflections, and possible rolling in the aisles. Gallery's first show of the 2013 season opens in the arena theater on January 18 and runs through February 9.

Join Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz and the Cat in the Hat in this musical adventure through the limitless imagination of Dr. Seuss. From the tiny land of Who-Ville to the Jungle of Nool, Seuss's timeless tales leap from page to stage. Seussical first opened on Broadway in the fall of 2000. In 2004, it was reworked by Theatreworks USA, streamlining the story and retooling some of the songs and dialogue. The new version has enjoyed huge success across two US tours, a run in London's West End, and in children's theaters across the country, including NWCT, which previously produced the show in 2006. The play runs tonight, January 8 through February 10 and is a part of the Fertile Ground Festival of New Work.

Artists Rep and the University of Portland are pleased to present the U.S. Premiere of Natasya Filippovna from Moscow New Drama Theatre. Natasya Filippovna is in an improvisation form based on Fyodor Dostoyevsky's The Idiot as directed by Viacheslav Dolgachev. The limited performances run tonight, January 8 through 12 at 7:30pm, with five fixed improvisation shows performed with English subtitles; the final performance, January 13 at 2pm, will be fully improvised and in Russian with no English subtitles. A reception with the artists will follow performances on January 9 and 13.

CoHo Productions Premieres INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Opening 1/25

Write down everything and something is bound to be funny. Or at least that's standup comedian Tim's philosophy in International Falls by Thomas Ward. CoHo Productions, as part of the Fertile Ground Festival, will produce the World Premiere. A pay-what-you-will preview performance will be held on January 24th, with opening night on January 25th. The hilarious new show will run Thursday through Sunday through February 16th. Tickets start at $20 with discounts available for students, educators and seniors. Those with a valid International Falls, MN driver's license will receive free admission (pending availability).
