Written by Joseph Hayes THE DESPERATE HOURS was based on his 1954 thriller novel of the same title and was the basis for the films The Desperate Hours in 1955 and Desperate Hours in 1990. A charismatic, young mechanical engineer at NASA‘s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Kobie Boykins, is at the forefront of Mars exploration having worked on remarkable projects from the Mars Expedition Rovers 'Opportunity' and 'Spirit', to the Ocean Surface Topography Mission. Boykins was responsible for the design, fabrication, and build of the solar arrays that power the Mars Expedition Rovers that continue to send data from Mars, our nearest planetary neighbor. He will present 'Exploring Mars: The Next Generation' at the Mesa Arts Center on Jan. 19 at 7:30, the third presentation in the four-part series with National Geographic Live, now in its fourth season in Arizona.

Fountain Hills Community Theater's production of the funniest, most honored musical in the history of Broadway, The Producers, is being extended an additional weekend. Outrageous, hilarious, unexpected, a wee bit naughty and a sure-fire hit! Debuting on Broadway in 2001, this Mel Brooks musical quickly racked up a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical. The Producers follows the adventures and misadventures of Max Bialystock, a washed up Broadway producer and Leo Bloom, a timid accountant with dreams of becoming a producer. Together they set out to produce a full-fledged flop - and fleece their investors in the process - but unwittingly wind up with a hit on their hands. These two schemers will sing and dance their way through the greatest show biz scam there ever was!
