BRT Opens Summer Musicale Series with Great Balls of Fire 6/16-26
Bristol Riverside Theatre opens its Summer Musicale Series with Great Balls of Fire, A Legacy of the Fifties on June 16-26. Keith Baker and the BRT Band are joined by BRT veterans Demetria Joyce Bailey, Laura Catlaw, and Anthony D'Amato with the introduction of Kenneth Tomaso performing favorites from the fifties like How High the Moon, Sugar Shack, Autumn Leaves, Kansas City and Moments to Remember.
Opening Thursday, June 16 at 8:00 PM, performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM; Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3:00 PM; and Wednesday, June 22 and Thursday, June 23 matinees at 2:00 PM. "The songs of the 50's were ‘feel-good' tunes with light melodies and sweet lyrics," said BRT Artistic Director Keith Baker. "The songs of Nat King Cole, Fats Domino and Les Paul which dominated the pop charts and reflected the mood of post-war America continue to enchant contemporary audiences."
The Summer Musicale Series continues with The Sweetest Sounds: An Evening with Richard Rodgers & Friends on July 14-24 and Lights Up On Broadway on August 11-21. Series tickets at $75 are still available.
Since 1986, BRT has brought consistently acclaimed professional theatre to Bucks County and maintained a long-term commitment to finding and developing new plays. The theatre is the recipient of over 60 Barrymore Award nominations for Excellence in Theatre, given annually by the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia. In addition to its mainstage productions, the theatre serves as a cultural hub for the community, with such programs as children's theatre, community concerts and exhibitions of local visual arts.
