We kick things off with one of Broadway's biggest flops, the musical In My Life, which was written and directed by Academy Award winning composer of 'You Light Up My Life', Joe Brooks. Throwing Out My CDs by Ben Rimalower: SWEET CHARITY

Like the rest of you, I've spent this week obsessing over 'Fosse Verdon' on FX and especially Gwen Verdon, played brilliantly on the series by Michelle Williams, in a performance that makes you want to reinvestigate what made Gwen so great. Sweet Charity is the perfect place to start. Gwen became a star and won her first Tony in a featured role in Can Can and she gained worldwide acclaim (and number 2 in a total of four Tonys) as Lola in Damn Yankees on stage and screen and of course there were many other shows and movies and TV appearances, but Sweet Charity was the show Bob Fosse (and Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields and Neil Simon) created just for her. She may have lost the Tony to Angela Lansbury in Mame, but Gwen got that iconic poster and all those songs.

Below, watch as they perform together for the last time. BWW feels privileged to share with you a bit of highlights of these two legends together before a rapt and ecstatic audience who precded to shower them with a (well deserved) standing ovation... RIP Harvey Schmidt.
Stop the Parade, They Want to Get On! Broadway's Best Tackle Dolly's Signature Song
by A.A. Cristi
- 09/08/2017
Jerry Herman's anthemic masterpiece, 'Before the Parade Passes By', has been the center of the title character's journey in the classic musical, Hello Dolly! for over fifty years. With it's determined spirit and pick-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps message, the song is a stand alone declaration of self-reliance, bravery, and freedom.

The Professional Dancers Society (PDS) held its Annual Gypsy Awards Luncheon Sunday, April 23rd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA in honor of Choreographer Mandy Moore (La La Land, So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars), veteran TV Producer Lee Hale (Dean Martin Variety Series) choreographers Karen Willes and Natalie Willes; and legendary performer Carol Channing who was not able to attend, but who sent a letter to be read by her dear friend, the iconic Lily Tomlin. In her own inimitable style, Ms. Tomlin spoke fondly of Ms. Channing and recalled their first meeting "...in a dark alley in Chicago, it was the backstage door to the Shubert Theater, where Carol was appearing in 'Hello Dolly!.' BWW TV's own Michael Sterling was there to talk to the stars.
