The Museum of Broadway has announced a redesign of its permanent costume exhibit will exclusively feature costumes worn by iconic Black performers in celebration of Black History Month.

Sinatra The Musical, a new musical based on the life and career of the legendary artist and cultural icon, will open in London in 2026. The Broadway-aimed musical will begin performances at Aldwych Theatre, London on Wednesday 3 June 2026.

The Drama League announced the 2025 Drama League Awards Nominees for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Direction of a Play, Outstanding Direction of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award. Sutton Foster, Michael Urie, Daniel Breaker, Will Chase, Ana Gasteyer, and Nikki Renée Daniels will appear at The Museum of Broadway on April 22nd to perform a few selections from the Once Upon a Mattress cast recording and to sign CDs.

The Broadway cast of New York City Center Encores! revival of Once Upon a Mattress, directed by Lear deBessonet, will go into the studio to record the Cast Album of their production at the end of January.

To share an exceptional show with a wider audience, Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., will present a return engagement June 1-18 of Smokey Stevens in 'I Just Want to Tell Somebody.' 

The Museum of Broadway will begin offering onsite educational workshops and resources for school group visitors.

With the actor suffering from acute laryngitis, Theater for the New City has been forced to postpone the return engagement of Ronald 'Smokey' Stevens in his one-man, two character production, 'I Just Want to Tell Somebody.' The piece was scheduled to be re-mounted November 10-27, 2022 and will now take stage June 1-18, 2023.

The Golden Theatre was the place to be last night as Suzan-Lori Parks' Pulitzer Prize-winning Topdog/Underdog officially opened on Broadway. Directed by Tony Award-winner Kenny Leon, it stars Emmy Award-winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, Candyman) and Tony Award-nominee Corey Hawkins (In the Heights, The Tragedy of Macbeth). Stephen Byrd & Alia Jones-Harvey’s Front Row Productions Fellowship, in association with Columbia University School of the Arts, named Lamar Richardson as the 2022 Front Row Productions Fellow.

Black Theatre United has engaged Christina Alexander of Alexander Consulting Group to create a digital Unconscious Bias and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility & Belonging (EDIAB) training program for use by the entire theatrical industry.

Front Row Productions was established by award-winning producers Stephen Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey to bring major works to Broadway and the West End featuring diverse casts, creative teams and management. In furtherance of that mission, the producing team founded the Front Row Productions Fellowship in 2021 to support the development of gifted theatrical producers of color and increase the diversity of work produced on Broadway.

Stephen Byrd & Alia Jones-Harvey’s Front Row Productions Fellowship, in association with Columbia University School of the Arts, is now accepting applications for its 2022 Fellowship program.  The submission deadline is July 20.
