PRIMARY STAGES announced today the launch of Primary Plus, a series of online programs aimed at helping artists connect with Primary Stages and with each other.

City Theatre will host a screening of When My Sleeping Dragon Woke, a documentary by Chuck Schultz about Sharon Washington's play Feeding the Dragon which had its world premiere at City Theatre in the fall of 2016. 

PRIMARY STAGES has announced casting for The Confession of Lily Dare, written by and starring Charles Busch (The Tribute Artist, You Should Be So Lucky) and directed by Carl Andress (The Divine Sister, The Tribute Artist). Performances begin at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street) on January 11, 2020, with opening night set for January 29, for a limited run through March 5, 2020.

Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company, has acquired Sam Zalutsky's revenge thriller SEASIDE for a digital release on August 20. The film is Zalutsky's second feature film, following his psychological horror movie You Belong to Me, for which he was shortlisted for the Independent Spirit Award's Someone to Watch Award. SEASIDE stars Tony nominee Ariana DeBose in her feature film debut. An original cast member in Broadway's Hamilton, DeBose will be seen next as Anita in Steven Spielberg's highly anticipated remake of West Side Story. Also featured in the film are Broadway stars Matt Shingledecker (Rent, Les Misérables), Steffanie Leigh (Mary Poppins), and Sharon Washington (The Scottsboro Boys, Joker).

Just last night, The Public Theater celebrated its Annual Gala, WOMEN OF THE PUBLIC, at the Delacorte Theater. Directed by Leigh Silverman, with music direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, it celebrated those who shaped our past and guide our future.

Geffen Playhouse and Audible will co-produce Nightfall for the Los Angeles theater's 2019/2020 season, it was announced today. Written by Marisela Treviño Orta (The River Bride, Braided Sorrow, Wolf at the Door) as part of Audible's Emerging Playwrights Fund, Nightfall will make its world premiere in Geffen's Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater in February and marks the completion of the Geffen Playhouse 2019/2020 season lineup.

The 2019 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out last night to recipients in 19 categories, with one special award and three honorary awards also bestowed. The Lortel Awards were distributed in a ceremony at NYU Skirball Center hosted by Drama Desk Award-nominated writer and performer of The New One, Mike Birbiglia. Audible, the world's leading producer and provider of spoken-word entertainment, today deepens its commitment to UK theatre announcing a new London production of Radio written by Al Smith. Josh Roche directs Adam Gillen as Charlie Fairbanks in a one-man play about memory, love and spaceships. The production opens at Arcola Theatre on 24 June, with previews from 19 June and runs until 13 July. To coincide with the opening of the stage show, a studio recording of Radio will also release exclusively on Audible this summer, available for members to download worldwide.
