Theatre Arlington has announced the cast and creative team for the sixth installment in their 50th anniversary season, Avenue Q! Often dubbed “Sesame Street for Adults”, the show stars a cast of puppets in a fictional neighborhood of New York City.

Just three weeks after the closing of Fly by Night,  which was met with rave reviews from Dallas Voice, Onstage NTX, and several other outlets, Theatre Arlington is continuing its 50th Anniversary season with Tracy Letts’ dramatic comedy Superior Donuts.

Theatre Arlington has announced the fourth installment for their 50th anniversary season, Fly by Night. The show takes place against the backdrop of bustling New York City during the 1965 blackout. With its innovative music, lyrics, and book by Will Connolly, Michael Mitnick, and Kim Rosenstock, Fly by Night takes audiences on a journey filled with true romance, dry humor, and the power of dreams.

Theatre Arlington is thrilled to open the third installment in our 50th Anniversary season, On Golden Pond by Ernest Thompson. This classic play follows an elderly couple spending their summer at their lake house, where they reconnect with their estranged daughter. The story is a heartfelt meditation on the complications of aging, family, and forgiveness.

Theatre Arlington is shifting gears from “the mother of all musicals” to what some consider one of the funniest comedies ever written for the stage, Noises Off by Michael Frayn. This out-of-control play within a play opens Friday, March 31st, and is the second production in the theater’s 50th anniversary season.

Theatre Arlington opens its 50th season with the sizzling musical Gypsy – A Musical Fable on Friday, February 10th.

Well, those are still the days in downtown Arlington with Theatre Arlington's production of Hooray for Holidays: Theatre Arlington's Musical TV Special, an original musical written by the theater's executive producer, Steven D. Morris.

Step into Roald Dahl's magical world this Friday as Theatre Arlington presents their all-youth musical James and the Giant Peach, JR. Based on Dahl's book James and the Giant Peach, this beloved tale about courage and self-discovery with book by Timothy Allen McDonald comes alive with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, best known for their work on Dear Evan Hansen.

Theatre Arlington will be serving up layers of delicious and heartwarming comedy in Bekah Brunstetter’s The Cake, set to open on Friday, September 30th.

Theatre Arlington is set to open Biloxi Blues by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Neil Simon on Friday, August 19. 

The production stars Micah JL Brooks as Brindsley Miller, Alli Franken as Carol Melkett, Jakie Cabe as Colonel Melkett, Hannah Bell as Miss Furnival, Micah Green as Harold Gorringe, Jenna Anderson as Clea, Andrew Nicolas as Schuppanzigh and Kelley Garland as Georg Bamberger.

Theatre Arlington will present The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on June 3rd. This hilarious and endearing musical focuses on six quirky pre-teens (all played by adults) as they compete for a slot in the National Spelling Bee. As each speller has their moment at the mic, they candidly reveal their hopes, dreams, and touching stories about their home lives.

Waiting on deck in Downtown Arlington's Cultural Arts District is the Theatre Arlington's musical, Damn Yankees by Douglass Wallop and George Abbott, with music and lyrics by Jerry Ross and Richard Adler.

In honor of Black History Month, Theatre Arlington will present Lorraine Hansberry's award-winning play, A Raisin in the Sun, opening on Friday, February 14th. This groundbreaking play is inspired in part by Hansberry's real-life experiences when her parents purchased a house in a a?oewhite neighborhood.a?? It is the South Side of Chicago in the 1950s and the Youngers have received a $10,000 insurance check and each of the adult members of the family has an idea of what they would like to do with the money. Three generations of the family are in conflict: Lena, the matriarch, dreams of moving to a better neighborhood; her son, Walter Lee, dreams of buying a liquor store; daughter Beneatha longs to attend medical school. As the Youngers argue over the best plan, this play brought to light many issues that were rarely discussed at the time, such as women's rights, inequality and lack of opportunity.

Theatre Arlington begins 2020 with a knockout punch in Ripcord, opening on January 10th. This hilariously inappropriate comedy by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, David Lindsay-Abaire, introduces us to Abby and Marilyn, residents of the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility, who have been forced to share a room, despite being polar opposites. Abby, the cantankerous one, is forced to share her quarters with new-arrival Marilyn, the chipper one. Of course, Abby has no choice but to get rid of the infuriatingly happy Marilyn by any means necessary. A harmless bet between these mature ladies quickly escalates to a dangerous game of one-upmanship, revealing not just the tenacity of these worthy opponents, but also deeper truths that each would rather remain hidden.
