The Stage kicks off Season 36 with the Obie-winning play 'The Lieutenant of Inishmore' by acclaimed playwright Martin McDonagh; screenwriter, director, and producer of this year's Golden Globe winner for Best Motion Picture - 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri'.  McDonagh's work is built into the fabric of San Jose Stage Company's mission to illuminate the human condition. Come From Away is now onstage in Winnipeg at the John Hirsch Mainstage - Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre until February 3. 2018. The Winnipeg engagement is completely sold out. The show then travels to Toronto with performances beginning February 13, 2018 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. The Toronto engagement is an open-ended run with tickets currently on sale until September 2, 2018.

San Jose Stage Company Artistic Director Randall King today announced the Company's 35th season. The Stage's 35th theatrical season is a benchmark of the region's live professional theater King said .a celebration we could not have realized without the tremendous patronage we continually experience. The Stage was founded 35 years ago with the mission of producing new works by emerging and established playwrights that explore the human condition. In celebration of their anniversary The Stage presents five works that contribute thoroughly to that mission. Audiences will be prompted to reflect on the polarity of emotions with each piece bringing its own unique analysis on the dividing lines of the human condition. When does pleasure become pain? Love become regret? Good become evil?

San Jose Stage Company's Co-Founder and Artistic Director, Randall King, was honored last week with the "Distinguished Alumni Award" by San Jose State University's Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.  During their Spring initiation King accepted the award addressing the new initiates giving words of guidance to the the next generation of artists.   Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective society honoring excellence and ethics in all academic disciplines.  William J. Reckmeyer, Phi Kappa Ph President & Professor Emeritus Leadership/Systems SJSU, stated 'PKP Board was impressed with Randall's significant contributions to promoting the arts in our local community, especially establishing San Jose Stage Company as one of the premier artistic institutions in the entire Bay Area."
