Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, on behalf of all of Broadway, Off-Broadway and the national tours involved in the organization's recent fall fundraising campaign, is awarding $100,000 in emergency grants to support Australia wildfire relief efforts. The grants will help provide immediate assistance to organizations doing vital, lifesaving, on-the-ground work in the region.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that legendary Tony Award winning composer and lyricist Jerry Herman has passed away. He died in Miami on December 26, due to pulmonary complications. He was 88 years old.
2019 Tony Award Honoree Michael McElroy and the BROADWAY INSPIRATIONAL VOICES announce the addition of Alicia Graf Mack to their 2019 holiday concert, Seasons of Inspiration. Ms. Mack is the current Director of Juilliard Dance, and co-founder of D(n)A Arts Collective, an initiative created to enrich the lives of young dancers through master classes and intensives. Her distinguished career as a leading dancer includes Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and special performances with artists such as Alicia Keys, John Legend, and Beyoncé. She is a recipient of the Columbia University Medal of Excellence, and Smithsonian magazine named her an American Innovator of the Arts and Sciences.
Six weeks of enthusiastic fundraising erupted into two extraordinary performances of lighthearted parodies, inspiring calls-to-action and exceptional dance at this year's Red Bucket Follies. The Broadway community mourns the loss of beloved performer, lyricist and women's healthcare advocate Phyllis Newman, who passed away on September 15, 2019 at age 86. To commemorate her life and work, the Committee of Theatre Owners will dim the lights of the American Airlines, Broadhurst, Helen Hayes, Lunt-Fontanne, Lyric, New Amsterdam, Samuel J.
